Self-Expression- Monday- 4th period
The class was in the Danger Shop today, which was looking quite a bit like a clothing department of a store.
"Guess what we're doing today," Kitty greeted them with a smile. "Clothes are pretty much the easiest way to tell people who you are, due to it being one of the first things people see on you. Which isn't to say you need to care about things like shopping or fashion. But due to things like laws you do usually need to wear clothes, so what you put on says something about you, even if it's just jeans and a t-shirt." Which she was totally wearing.
"Now, you're all young, and what you like to dress in now might change as you get older. Whether the styles change or you get more money to dress better or the way you feel about your body changes and you start dressing it differently. I've had... probably between one and two dozen phases since I was about thirteen, sometimes changing it up every couple weeks." She wasn't going to get into the costume thing in class because that was a potentially off-topic can of worms she didn't want to open on the second week, but let's at least narratively never forget the thing with the legwarmers and rollerskates. "It was fun, being able to change my look and figuring out what worked. So that's what you guys are doing here. I programmed in a wide range of clothes and accessories of all different price ranges, and there are things from different time periods since I know some of you are from the past, and maybe some of you have an inner flapper you're dying to let out or something. There's also makeup and some wigs back over there, so this is your chance to make yourselves look the way you want to without limitations, and no judgment for any of it. Feel free to help each other out, and if you need any help, I'm right over here."

Listen to the lecture
Re: Listen to the lecture
When you could literally change your entire appearance in a matter of seconds, the idea of just changing clothes and putting on a wig was a little staid.
Re: Listen to the lecture
That explained the interested but somewhat thunderstruck look on her face, and the way she was suddenly glancing down at her own considerably plain and unflattering dress with a more critical eye; she'd never even thought about this before.

Oh, well, at least there were shoes and things.
Dress up!
Re: Dress up!
She was rather enjoying trying out a short hair style, especially with some good old fashioned glam. The wigs fit way better when she shifted into being bald really quick, first.

She liked them just fine, she thought, checking herself out in a mirror, but she liked her usual style better.
Re: Dress up!
But the jeweled hair clips were better, and Bay loved the retro flapper-style party dress she found to go with them so much she might never take it off.
Re: Dress up!
That was something he was good at doing.
Re: Dress up!
Occasionally she would pick one item or another off the rack and hold it up in front of her before putting it back. Would her father be terribly averse to her trying out a new look?
Probably, but she was fairly sure she could talk him into it. Anyway, he wasn't here on the island with her.
Re: Dress up!
She felt strange without her layers and layers, when she tried them on -- let alone how light she felt without her bustle -- but there was something very freeing about it, too.
She only allowed herself a few moments in them before getting back into her dress.
Re: Dress up!
She would never wear this sort of thing, but it felt intriguing, pretending to be the sort of girl who might.
Re: Dress up!
Up at her. Hi, tall person!

He wondered if he should try for the 1930s radio look, or go for something completely different.
Re: Dress up!
That and her tendency to leave shoes on the other side of walls when she walked through them...
