Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

There was the bonfire for everyone who thought Maryland in January was a little too cool for their taste, as well as the moddable warm food and drinks, and chairs and tables in the school colors of blue and gold. Some tables were also set a little further away from the crowds.

Because there were always people who preferred the fringes.

[OCD up! This is the picnic post for general mingling. Roommates, fake siblings and teachers are all here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

Kenzi was perched on a table. The better to reach food and graze on it; no, she was not on the menu, new kids.

As long as there was free food, there was gonna be a Kenzi.

"Kenzi!" That enthusiastic bundle of clothes with a person under it somewhere was Cecil. The nearly-person-sized pink bird following him might have been a clue, if the muffled voice wasn't. "Happy new year!"

"Novym godom!" Kenzi called back, grinning at the clothes bundle. It was just too cute. "You able to eat under all that?"

"I haven't tried yet," Cecil confessed. "Maybe with a straw? How was your holiday?"

Kenzi started pushing pretzels into folds. One of them had to make it through, right?

"Good! Except that Doom has cursed my future home, and I'm wondering if I need an exorcist. Bastard."

Cecil giggled and tried to move things enough until he got a pretzel. The rest he'd just save for later.

"Oh, no! What sort of curse? I know a few good exorcists back home."

"He said on the Radio that if I ever even walked onto the property, it would be mystically condemned. Who does that?!"

Well, Doom. Obviously. DOOOOOOM DAMN YOU.

Kenzi snickered at the shifting pretzel-grabbing bundle, and poked another one nearer Cecil's neck.

"I don't have a mouth down there!" Cecil protested. "Well, not yet. Hm. I'll ask about the mystical condemning thing. I think we had a divorce case with something like it a few years ago."

"Really? Dude, I would so owe you. My only other option would be Baba Yaga, and I'm pretty sure I couldn't afford her rates." Shudder.

Aaaand now Kenzi was pushing a pretzel from the top. There you go, Cecil! "Are you ever coming out of the mummy get-up?"

"To exorcise your house, or to live with?" Cecil asked.

Yay, a pretzel! He munched on it happily. "I'm coming out when it warms up!" he said firmly.

"Exorcism, Jeezus. Nobody wants Baba Yaga to stay with them!" That way lies getting eaten, Cecil, what the hell! Kenzi snickered at the munching sounds coming from behind the layers. "Wuss. I should so figure out how to get us to Moscow sometime. Then you'll feel cooooold."

"In Russia, cold gets you," Kenzi said in a heavy accent. "Plus, Canada. Where it's dark for most of winter. This is nice dude, jeez. Desert boy," she teased. "You got a new roomie or little sib this time?"

"Definitely desert!" Cecil nodded emphatically. "I'm still rooming with Sholeh. And no little sib; I thought, I'm still so new myself, maybe I'd wait till I have at least another semester. There look like some fun new people, though! And I'm a TA!"

"Coolness. To who?" Nom nom nom. "I never was a big sib, but then, maybe the school knows I would've recruited any little sibs for mayhem." And con jobs. "Man, I should've gotten out the gremlin repellant sprays again."

"Mr. Starsmore!" You know, Kenzi - the big blue guy. "And I think you'd make a great big sib! Mayhem is fun! Setting things on fire sounds really fun right about now," he confessed with a grin.

"Jonothon!" One of her fave people and her funnest boss! "You be good for him, I'm his-- I was his coffee minion," Kenzi said without missing a beat. "He's awesome. What's he teaching?" She looked around and then grinned back at the bundle of Cecil. "We should find somewhere to start a bonfire. 'Cause these new kids might be cold."

"I'll take good care of him." Cecil nodded solemnly. "He's teaching Coping with Change. You can never have too many coping mechanisms," he noted cheerfully. "And a bonfire sounds great!"
