Library, 2/21

Angela is curled up behind the counter, sipping from a very large bottle of water and flipping through a graphic novel about a being called Fantasy who is one of seven siblings as old as the universe.

The library is open for all your book-type needs.

[OOC: This will probably be slowplay for at least part of the day from me -- look for another aide or mod appropriate assistance if necessary.]

Parker's not very perky this morning. But she does have a mission into SC to look forward to. Actually, that's probably why.

Angela waves, still distracted. "Did we break Jarod completely last night?"

"It's a strong possibility. And if we did, maybe he'll forget about those stupid cowgirl photos." Parker made a face. "God, that was embarassing."

"I'm sure you were adorable, Parkie," Angela said, trusting she won't get burninated for the nickname. "And, anyhow, he doesn't have photos, so we can't put them all over the school."

"Thank GOD. Even talking to the friend we've got still in Blue Cove, there's no way he'd get those." Parker stuck out a tongue for 'Parkie'. "And knowing him? He'd put them on the 'Net. Too bad all the photos I have of him from that time are so damn boring."

"So you saved pictures of him from when he was little?" Angela asked. Her tone was completely innocent.

Almost.

"One or two. Sydney has more, if I want them, but they're all the same." Parker rolled her eyes. "Jarod studying."

And okay, there's the one of her, Jarod, and Angelo, and one or two of them together. But it's not like anyone can see them-- the Centre logo is all over the place. Way too incriminating.

Angela shrugged. "So why'd you keep them, if they're boring?" she asked. Still with the innocent tone. "And why'd people photograph him studying, anyhow?"

Question 2 is easier to answer than Question 1, bizarrely enough. Damnit. "He's a genius and was in a special program. He was the poster kid, basically. Look at the Boy Genius, doing-- whatever. Building the Empire State building, or looking through a microscope, or studying the genetics of bunnies." Parker shrugged. "And I kept them because I didn't see him at all for over two years, and it was better than nothing."

"Ohhhh," Angela said, impressed. "My friend Brian back home was kind of like that. He was always doing the smart kid stuff." She made a face. "He's dorkier than Jarod, though. And his parents let him read, and stuff."

She tilted her head to one side. "You guys met have been close when you were little. I mean, it still shows."

"There are people dorkier than Jarod?" Parker wondered, then smirked. "Okay, he's loosened up a lot since Blue Cove. But I'm still impressed at the idea. And, yeah, I guess. Close. Best friends forever." Parker glanced away. "He didn't get to be around a lot of people. And I kept switching schools, after a while."

Angela rolled her eyes. "Last year? Brian wrote me this love letter and let me think it was from Jordan Catalano. It was bizarre. Especially because I had to find out from someone else, and it kind of made me look like an idiot."

"It sounds like Jarod's foster family were really repressive. Good thing he got out, huh?"

"Cyrano de Bergerac only works in the play," Parker said, shaking her head. "And I always thought it was stupid of Roxane not to figure it out, so, yeah. That must've been fun."

"Great thing he got out," Parker added vehemently. "He was going crazy there. Thank god Sydney--" She caught herself, and shrugged, then looked at Angela, and got as close to pleading as she ever did. "They don't know where he is. So if anyone ever asks, you don't know either. Okay?"

Jack comes into the library looking for Parker. Because, really, what are the chances that he's looking for books?

Parker waves to him from the counter, and cocks an eyebrow at him. "Do you need your dose of once-a-semester research help, or are you just goofing off, goofy boy?"

Jack grins and leans over the counter. "I'm not in dire need of help. I just thought I'd come annoy you. So, how goes it?"

"Annoying. I got cast in the damn play!" Parker said. "I auditioned to keep Gilmore from whining at me, and I got a part! Agh!"

Jack grinned. "That's fantastic! What's the play, and who are you playing? I could so see you in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof or something."

Parker rolled her eyes, torn between the annoyance and the amusement at the compliment. "Midsummer Night's Dream. And Maggie the Cat I may be, but Titania, Queen of the Fairies? Principal Slacker was smoking the popcorn when he cast this thing." She frowned. "Wait, didn't you try out? I swear I saw your name on the list."

"I could totally see you as queen of the fairies. Commanding, gracious, and getting what you want." He grinned, then blinked at Parker's second comment. "Huh? Um, no. But there's like fifty million Jacks at this school."

"I have to kiss a guy wearing a donkey head." Parker pouted, then shook her head, blinking. "I could swear I saw Harkness on the list, somewhere in there. You're not playing Oberon. That at least would make this worth it. I'd quit, but if I do, Alanna's going to skewer me. She got cast too after I talked her into auditioning because I had to."

Jack shakes his head. "I think you're losing it, Parker. Seeing things and not just putting your foot down and saying 'no'. I got to get to Art class... where's this list, so I can look and snicker?"

"Outside the principal's office. I am *not* seeing things, Jack. And yes, I'm afraid if I quit he'll do something worse! You know this school! I could up playing the transformed idiot if I object." Parker scowled, then slowly grinned. "Of course, I could make them very sorry they cast me...."

Angela waved to Jack, then went back to her reading.

Jack waves at Angela, then makes a beeline to Parker.
