Library, Friday

Technically, Billy was in the library, ready to help anyone who needed help or check out any books that were just dying to go home with someone (metaphorically dying--literally dying books would probably be confiscated). But anyone who needed him would have to find him under the blanket pile on the chair at the front desk.

Seriously, what was the point in being a super awesome magic user if you couldn't magic a head cold away?

"Kind of," Topher hedged. "I made some helpful annotations in the margins."

No, Topher. Bad. Don't do that.

"Do you need cold medicine?" he asked, squinting at Billy concernedly. "I think I have some in my bag. Late fall, can't be too careful."

"Do you just like, carry it around with you?" Billy asked. "I'd say that's kind of strange but it's so helpful right now that I'll let it slide and just say you're awesome."

[dollpocalypse]

"Yeah, you know, just in case," Topher said, rummaging in a front pocket of his backpack for a moment before presenting Billy with a bottle of DayQuil. "Germs and whatnot. Like some people carry around that gooey stuff, you know, the stuff you put on your hands." Hand sanitizer, Topher.

"Soooo awesome," Billy drawled, pouring out a safe dose (okay maybe slightly more than recommended) into a styrofoam cup from the desk. "Colds suck. A lot." You know, in case Topher wasn't aware.

[dollpocalypse]

"They do," Topher agreed. "Not that I'm complaining about the singular usefulness of science and my ability to be helpful, but how come you can't just magic it away?"

"I triiiied." Billy, there was no need for that level of whining. "It didn't help. It didn't make things worse but it also didn't help."

[dollpocalypse]

"But that's not supposed to happen when you want it really badly," Topher objected, indignant. "Is there, like... tech support?"

There probably wasn't tech support. Well, maybe the Scarlet Witch?

Billy broke into a laugh at that. "That'd be a fun call. 'My spells aren't keeping me from coughing up a lung. I've already tried turning them off and turning them back on again. Please advise?'"

[dollpocalypse]

"'P.S., yes, I do have the unlimited warranty,'" Topher chimed in. "Aww. Sorry your special skills don't come with a manual." He leaned in as if he was going to give Billy a kiss, then thought better of it (germs!) and patted Billy gingerly on the head instead.
