Valentine's Day Dance. The Gym. 8.30 pm

The gym was decorated, the DJs were playing, and the punch was not yet spiked.

Fandom High's Valentine's Day Dance had begun.

Fortunately, she's wearing the right kind of dress for spinning.

Angela is happy to hear a fast song.

And spinning is pretty cool, too. She leads Marty back onto the floor.

Marty hops and jumps around in time to the music. He looks cool. Really he does.

Angela grabs him by the hand and attempts a complicated spinny thing.

It's not quite a success, but at least she keeps her balance. Mostly.

"I never got disco," she said. "It's all ... fast and happy. But this, now, is fun."

Marty laughs and tries to do some kind of fancy disco move.

Now he just looks foolish.

"Disco does have its good points," Marty said loudly over the music, "But I'll never admit it to anyone else!"

Angela mimed shock, then mimes zipping her lips.

Then grinning, she did the John Travolta thing with her fingers.

She looked completely ridiculous.

Nadia grins when she sees Marty and Angela dancing, then closes her eyes as she keeps spinning and jumping to the music.

"Nadia! Do the hustle with me!" Marty shouts as he goes through the dance moves.

Nadia has never, ever seen "the Hustle" before. She thinks Marty's making it up.

But, hey, she's trying to be friendslike with him, so she gives it a shot.

What a dumb dance.

"This dance needs more spinning!"

Marty adds a spin to the dance step. He might be a little clutzy about it.

"Feel free to add your own in!"

Nadia twirls. Several times. While stomping a little.

"Much better!"

Marty decided to go out and attempt "The Hustle".

If the pirate were ever to use cameras, Marty would be a prime target for black mail.

"C'mon! Do the hustle with me!" Marty shouted over the music.

Angela collapsed in giggles.

"Ask Nadia!" she shouted. "She's really getting into this."

"What? And you aren't?" Marty says laughing.

He grabs her hand and tries to pull her next to him so they can start dancing the hustle.

Laughing, Angela follows him and attempts to match the steps. She looks pretty goofy.

Parker was just twirling by herself to this one, because the rhythm had gotten to her. Again.

"This is a very silly song," Anakin remarked to no one in particular.

Parker stopped twirling long enough to smile at him and shake her head. "It really, really is. But does it matter?" She held out her hand to him, and wiggled her fingers. "Ever-last-ing love!" she sang, hamming it up.

Anakin rolled his eyes but took Parker's hand and joined her on the dance floor.

He listened to the lyrics, "Need you by my side, want to be your bride?" he repeated. "Couldn't they come up with something else to rhyme?"

"I don't think they were trying that hard," Parker said, jitterbugging out from his fingers, then back. "It's all about the chorus-- Ev-er-last-ing love!" She snickered. "Earth music. Gotta love it. Think a bantha bell would improve it?

"Everything is better with a banthabell," Anakin said, grinning and dancing along. "But I'm not singing."

Looks like all those years working with a lightsaber made Anakin pretty light on his feet. He's not that bad a dancer. Not exactly the intergalactic equivalent of Fred Astaire, but pretty decent.

Still not comfortable in his suit, though.

Parker jitterbugged back, snickering, and said, "Very nice. Light years better than Petey-boy. Although now I have the picture of a horde of Jedi ringing bells and solemnly doing the foxtrot in my head. And in your usual robes, that's an even weirder picture."

Anakin laughed. "I've got some footage from home I should share with you. There's a reason that Jedi aren't normally known for our dancing--one of the Masters got ripped at a Republic Day Ball a few decades back. There was very bad dancing. And pimp hats." He gave her a wicked smile. "I'm not even supposed to know that this happened."

"Pimp hats?!" Parker chortled, losing her grip on his fingers as she laughed. "Oh, that's fabulous. How'd you find out?"

She twirled around him and sang along with "open up your eyes" and then said, "And are you and Rory...." She shrugged, cocking an eyebrow at him. "You and Rory?" she finished.
