Friendship is Teamwork!!!!1one, Wednesday
The class was meeting up back in the regular classroom today, so no one had to worry about falling from simulated great heights. Hurray! On the other hand, there was a very large, official looking podium at the front of the classroom, with a very large, official looking lectern upon it, and a very stern, very serious looking Pinkie Pie (wearing a dashing official political person curly white wig) behind it.
"Fillies and gentlecolts," Pinkie said, raising one hoof for attention. "It has come to my attention that somewhere very close by there is a government that has closed its doors! For seven days, now, this government has simply not worked! Completely shut! Well, I'm here to tell you what we're going to do about this!"
She stepped down from the lectern and trotted over to the door to the classroom. "Here is a demonstration." She opened the door. She leaned out the door. She walked through it, then back through. "Opening doors does not have to be difficult!" she announced. "Really, anypony can do it! See?!"
Derek didn't really watch the news, but he was relatively sure this wasn't what the problem in Washington was. Which also meant that his speech was going to be no better than hers. Just more awkward.
"If doors--" Seriously? Doors? "--don't work." Derek mostly looked like he'd like to hide behind the pony rather than do any real planning.
"They should settle it in a fight." Yeah! That worked!
Aren't you guys glad you picked the class where the teachers suggested opening literal doors or a fistfight to solve political issues?
Pinkie gave Derek the stink-eye. "I dunnoooooo about that one," she said. "But if you really have to, then fight." Look, she and her friends fought things all the time, okay? "So what do you all think? Everypony get up and tell us what you would do to fix a broken government if you were in charge! Make it passionate! Make it persuasive! And mostly, make it interesting, 'cause really, nopony has that much of an attention span."
