Cultural Exploration [Friday, 2nd Period]

Clint had sent everyone a message to dress for warm weather, although he was wearing his usual t-shirt and jeans as he waited for the class at the Portalocity office. Sorry ladies, he didn't do shorts.

"I know a bunch of you asked to go to places with beaches, but I figured we'd save something like that for a week when we need some relaxation." Clint had been here long enough now that he knew the nice, peaceful island time they were experiencing wouldn't last forever. "Today, we're going to Kenya, specifically the Maasai Mara Reserve, for some safari time." It was possible Clint was using this class as an excuse to do fun things he hadn't gotten to do when visiting these foreign countries himself, but he didn't think the students would mind. "If you want to go back to your room and grab a camera or something, go ahead. We'll portal over when everyone's ready."

The Maasai Mara Game Reserve is the natural habitat for lions, elephants, leopards, cheetahs, hippos, buffalo, zebras, giraffes, and many other animals. The students will be riding around the reserve in groups to observe the animals from the game camp's lovely Land Rovers.

Please don't get eaten or chewed on by anything!

Being from the future meant Jim could probably see these things just about any time he wanted but he was also stuck in Iowa in the future, which made a difference.

He was just going to sit back and enjoy the sun while checking out the animals.

Alec had never been much of a world traveler, and they didn't really have game reserves in New York, so yeah, this was a new experience for him.

Kind of an interesting one, if he was honest with himself. He even cupped his hand around his phone and snapped a few photos with it. So, yeah.

Between a police ridealong and this, this was probably Maddie's favorite day of classes ever, and she kept snapping pictures every time she spotted anything. Up to and including grass. It was artistic, all right?

Alex was actually pretty excited about this. She took in the warmth of this place and happily watched all the animals.

Yes, she totally did bring her camera with her.

When the reserve tour was done, there was a variety of tasty foods for the students to enjoy. There was also a localish delicacy that may or may not have been tasty. Everyone's taste buds are a little different, right?

There were some kind of African doughnut things. So that's what Maddie would be focusing on over here.

You could not pay her to try the bugs.

He'd be splitting his time between taking pictures and making sure no one got eaten by a lion or something.

By the way I have been singing this ALL. DAY.

Only in Kenya.
