Today the students found themselves in the Danger Shop that had been configured to look like a busy sidewalk in the heart of a major city. "Today we're going to talk about charity," Anakin said when everyone had gathered around. "Some people donate money or time to charitable organizations. Some people give a dollar or two to people who ask for it on the street. Some people figure they've worked very hard for their money and don't owe it to anyone else. There are arguments to be made for either of them, and as I said last week, I'm not here to tell you that you're a terrible person because you don't give ten percent of what you make to the Red Cross or Bruce Wayne's orphanage charity or something.

"What I will tell you is that along this street are panhandlers you can give money to, as well as a food bank where you can either give a donation of money or of time. There's also a coffee shop if you choose not to do any of those activities. Students, feel free to ask each other about the choices you're making--I certainly will--but please don't harague each other if someone makes a choice that isn't yours."

He smiled. "When you're finished with class, I will also give you a list of charities that are across the causeway if helping fake people today inspires you to help real people throughout the next week."

"Yeah, but not one with any strong anti-Jedi feelings or anything," Mira said, as she started stirring a pot of soup very intently. "Well, not against them as a group of people. But there are a few genocidal ones that I'm not crazy about."

Anakin didn't know anything about genocidal Jedi. Nooooope. Lalala.

"Well, the Jedi in my day wouldn't be all that crazy about genocidal Jedi either," he said a little dryly. "I don't think I've seen a Mandolorian out of their helmet in...years."

Possibly because Boba Fett just rolled that way.

"I wasn't really one of the Neo-Crusaders," Mira explained. "At least not to the point where I'd get the fancy armor. I mean, I was fourteen when the war ended. At that age, it's all still menial labor and training. That's why I can do this." She held the stirring spoon up for a second to show off that yeah, she had menial labor skills.

"You can outgrow having to do menial labor? No one ever mentioned that to my Master," Anakin said.

"Not really. Everyone still had to do their part, but the soldiers had soldiering to focus on," Mira explained. "I didn't, so all I had was menial."

"So you're an expert tuber peeler at this point," Anakin guessed.

"I'm a very good tube peeler. I'm an expert with demolitions," Mira said. "Which actually factors into charity work more than you'd think."

"On Nar Shaddaa," she added, even though she thought it was implied.

Anakin snorted. "Well, there it makes sense," he said. "I'm not it would go over so well in other places."

He paused.

"Well, maybe New York..."

"I'm going to pretend that's a reference I understand," Mira noted with a grin. "But yeah, I was in charge of storing, transporting, checking, and working on our grenades and mines. I'm happy to know those skills will eventually come in handy here when we get a weird enough creature attack. Is it wrong that I'm kind of excited for that?"

"Not at all," Anakin said. "Most students here are."
