The glittery enthusiasm of the 'Fandom High' banner strung across the wall was a little unexpected, but at least it confirmed Vider was where she was supposed to be, even if no one else appeared to be here yet. That part wasn't surprising, considering how early her flight had gotten in, but she seemed to be dealing with the earliness of the hour remarkably well. It might have had something to do with the fact that she was getting used to never getting quite enough sleep any more.

One of the trainers at the Hangadrottin War College had shoved a wad of unfamiliar money into her hand this morning, 'for the journey,' like she was going to some foreign country and not just the East coast. Still, she wasn't going to turn down money so she'd taken it without complaint and used some of it to buy a tea and pastry for breakfast, and once she picked out a seat by the wall where she could prop her spear case and sword up, she settled in to eat, picking the pastry apart into little shreds before putting them in her mouth.

So far this boarding school thing didn't seem so bad, although she was reserving final judgment until she'd actually seen the school.

"Yes!" Scott said, a relieved grin appearing on his face. "I was starting to think maybe I'd missed the shuttle or I was supposed to get a cab or something."

"If you missed it, we all did, and it ran really early," Vider said. "I've been here a while already. Hi, I'm Vider."

"Scott," he replied in kind, throwing his duffel on a nearby chair and flopping down in the one next to it, grateful that the hike across the airport hadn't left him quite out of breath enough to need the puffer in his coat pocket.

"So what brings you to boarding school?" she asked.

"My mom's idea," Scott shrugged. "We don't get to travel much or anything, so she thought it'd be cool if I had the chance to be someplace that wasn't Beacon Hills. You?"

"It's...kind of a long story," Vider said. She was beginning to catch on that no one had a clue here about her whole thing. "I was sort of sent here by the government?"

"Whoa, seriously?" Scott gaped at her. His plan to ask her about the tattoo (look, tattoos were awesome, okay, he totally wanted one one day) on her cheek was pushed aside in favor of "Are you in witness protection or something?"

"What? No," she scoffed. "I'm sort of a ward of the state." Actually that was exactly what she was.

"Oh," Scott, don't look disappointed that she wasn't on the run from dangerous criminals. "And so they sent you to boarding school?"

"I know, I think it's stupid, too. I could've joined a band already." Not that kind of band.

"You play?" Scott said, jumping right to that incorrect conclusion.

"Play what?"
