It wasn't everyday that you woke up to a mysterious note slipped under your door appointing you teacher's assistant for a class you weren't even sure you should be taking. But, that's what had happened to Theo this morning and that's why he was at the front of the class now. Ange was awash in excitement for this opportunity and Dev was probably a minute away from calling him a nerd.

The Spirit (and what a name that was) hadn't left him a lot of instructions. He'd just said 'be charming' after telling him he was the TA. What kind of instruction was that? How was Theo supposed to be charming? He was awkward as hell.

When everyone had filed in and found a seat, he said, "Uh, hey. So, I'm obviously not the guy that's supposed to be teaching this class but he's not here right now. I don't know where he is, actually but he left me a note that just said 'be charming.'"

And then he stopped and looked at the class like they might hold the answer. This whole thing wasn't helped by yet another argument going on in his head between Dev and Ange about what he should do. Dev basically wanted him to use his power for evil and make the class go get him food and a drink for breakfast. Ange, obviously, didn't like that.

"So, I guess we're gonna be charming today," he continued, trying to ignore the arguing by rubbing the side of his head and wincing. "I guess we'll do introductions since that's typically a first class thing. Introduce yourself in the most charming way possible."

Theo decided he'd just write up a roster and leave it for The Spirit. That done, he motioned for the first student to get started.

There's not much of a lecture but here's the spot to listen or do other things.

Well, the first class of Mira's high school career was off to an impressive start. If every class was like this, Mira just might go back to Nar Shaddaa and run the risk of dealing with Hanharr. It would at least be more informative than a teacher ditching and a student being in way over his head.

Sorry, Theo. Nothing personal.

Charmingly introduce yourself!

"Hi. I'm Mira, and you all look very nice today. Is that good enough?" Mira checked.

"Works for me," Theo said because, well, he wasn't a good judge of these things. That's why he'd signed up. He'd wanted to learn, not teach. "Nice to meet you, Mira and thanks."

"Hey, I'm Emma, nice to meet you," she said and forced a smile. That was charming right?

"Nice meet to you too," Theo said, giving her a nod. "Thanks for being here today. Welcome to class which hopefully won't be this bad every week."

Lisping was not charming, or at least not according to Rilla, so when she spoke, it was very precisely so that her habit of lisping out of nerves wouldn't reassert itself.

"I'm Rilla Blythe," she said, "and you're doing a wonderful job." She smiled. "Truly."

"Hey, thank you," Theo said, brightening up a little. "I appreciate you saying that, Rilla. Thanks."

He was appropriately charmed, yep.

"You're quite welcome," Rilla said. "It must be dreadful to just have to make up an entire class on the spot like this. I'm not sure how I would have managed."

She would have come up with something. She was kind of a born manager.

"Yeah, it definitely wasn't what I'd planned," he said, rubbing the back of his neck. "I just got the letter this morning from the teacher so I didn't have a lot of time to make this...good."

Because he knew it kind sucked. But, he'd tried. "I'm like the least charming person in the world."

Dev was more charming than he was. And Dev was telling him that right now. It was kind of annoying.

Rilla smiled at him. "You're doing just fine."

"Thanks," he said and smiled at her. "And welcome to the class."

"Hi, I'm Alex," she said, smiling as charmingly as possible. "Pleased to meet you."

"Hey, Alex," Theo said, nodding. "Right back at you. Thanks for coming."

"Hi, I'm Alex," Alex said. "The other Alex, I guess. Nice to meet everyone."

"Nice to meet you too," Theo said, giving Alex a nod. "Welcome to class. Hope you enjoy it when we have an actual teacher."

"Mercy Thompson," Mercy said with a smile. "And it's nice to meet all of you."

"Hey, how's it going and welcome to the class," Theo said, waving at her from the front of the class.

"I'm doing okay? How about you?" Mercy asked. "Other than getting drafted into running a first class, that is."

"Could be worse, I guess," Theo said, raising his shoulders in a shrug. "The class wasn't something I was prepared for but no one looks like they're going to come punch me so that's a good thing."

"Punch you?" Mercy's eyebrows rose. "Nobody'd better try that."

"I was exaggerating," Theo assured her with a little shake of his head. "I don't think that would happen. Pretty sure no one would try to do that in school like this."

"Well... unless they'd been bit by a gremlin, maybe," Mercy said with a grin. "Then, pretty much all bets are off."

He's around, if he's needed. But, he's definitely going to still be awkward at you.
