Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

There were plenty of tables and chairs scattered around the lawn for anyone who wanted to sit down once they'd had their fill of the buffet, or to recover from starting to find out what this place was all about. No one would judge the need to take a mental breather.

Some of the tables were out in the open, for those who weren't allergic to the sun, and some of the tables were in the shade, or far from the rest of the crowd for those who needed a little more space to process. Wherever people decided to rest, there was space enough for everyone.

[OOC: This is part two of the picnic, separated in an effort to save our browsers for as long as possible. Part one, to run into siblings, roommates and teachers, is over here, though teachers are also welcome in this post, of course. Because the picnic is outside, it is open to all students, teachers and townies.]

"From what you told me about your last trip home, seems like you could use the break," Cade commented.

"Oh, no, that was two trips home ago now," Jessica said. "My last one was to attend the inauguration and then fight a war in Wyoming, because yep, that happened."

"Where the kark is Wyoming?"

Cade's lack of knowledge of the US was a serious disadvantage sometimes.

"You know how there's a big area of the US that you've probably never heard of? It's right in the middle of that. Just a couple states northeast of legalized gambling and prostitution," Jessica said. Between those two things, she figured Cade could get a rough idea of where it was.

"Ohhhhh," Cade said because of course he'd figured out where Las Vegas was. "Why were you fighting over a big pile of nowhere?"

"Because some important things were hidden in that pile, and an anti-government militia wanted them," Jessica explained.

"And you couldn't have that," Cade said, nodding.

There had been more than a few Jedi missions along the same lines before the Sith had taken over.

"Definitely not in this case," Jessica said. "That whole thing probably did prove the President right, though. I'm really not a soldier. Anything my team does right now, that's military stuff. That's really not what I'm built for."

In a figurative sense. In a literal sense, it was exactly what she was built for. In a lab. For the government.

Cade nodded. "Know the feeling."

Wasn't planning to elaborate on how he knew that feeling, but he knew.
