Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

There were plenty of tables and chairs scattered around the lawn for anyone who wanted to sit down once they'd had their fill of the buffet, or to recover from starting to find out what this place was all about. No one would judge the need to take a mental breather.

Some of the tables were out in the open, for those who weren't allergic to the sun, and some of the tables were in the shade, or far from the rest of the crowd for those who needed a little more space to process. Wherever people decided to rest, there was space enough for everyone.

[OOC: This is part two of the picnic, separated in an effort to save our browsers for as long as possible. Part one, to run into siblings, roommates and teachers, is over here, though teachers are also welcome in this post, of course. Because the picnic is outside, it is open to all students, teachers and townies.]

"I've figured out where California is?" Cade offered. "It's...west, right?"

"...Yeah," she said slowly. "How do you not know where California is?"

"I'm not from around here," Cade replied. "How much have you heard about this place so far?"

"Time travel, alternate universes, and the world has two Buffies, or something," she said. "You're not from some universe where California fell off into the ocean, right? Because that's totally a myth."

"I'm from a galaxy that doesn't even have a California," Cade offered.

There was a pause.

"I'm sorry, I think I just had a stroke. Can you repeat that?"

"Hi, I'm an alien from another planet," Cade said. "Well, a human from a different galaxy, anyway."

"And this is the kind of day I'm having," Cordelia sighed.

"There's a bar that doesn't card," Cade suggested, "but they don't open for a while."

"I'll pass," she said. "It's probably all poison or turns you into a werewolf or something."

Had you seen Buffy werewolves? Not attractive.

"Well, it does have a zombie band," Cade admitted. "Don't sit too close to them."

"Ugh. Dealt with those," Cordelia said. "That won't be a problem."

Though the zombies had kind of improved that party.

Cade looked kind of impressed. "So you're from one of those weird dimensions that has zombies."

Meanwhile Cordelia was just annoyed she was back to one of these places again. "And vampires, and demons, and werewolves... It's a laugh a minute."

"Sounds it," Cade replied. "So I'm guessing that makes you not a vampire, demon or werewolf?"

"Oh, god, no," Cordelia said. "I have a life."

"And not an...unlife, right?" Cade checked.

"No. Normalest of normal. Queen of normal, even." Because of course she'd be the queen.

"Then you're definitely in the wrong place," Cade said with a snort.
