Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

There were plenty of tables and chairs scattered around the lawn for anyone who wanted to sit down once they'd had their fill of the buffet, or to recover from starting to find out what this place was all about. No one would judge the need to take a mental breather.

Some of the tables were out in the open, for those who weren't allergic to the sun, and some of the tables were in the shade, or far from the rest of the crowd for those who needed a little more space to process. Wherever people decided to rest, there was space enough for everyone.

[OOC: This is part two of the picnic, separated in an effort to save our browsers for as long as possible. Part one, to run into siblings, roommates and teachers, is over here, though teachers are also welcome in this post, of course. Because the picnic is outside, it is open to all students, teachers and townies.]

If you were to ask Sparkle, he'd tell you that, yes, he figured he was rocking the blonde look pretty well, today. He'd also tell you that this was some sort of seasonal plumage swap, so to speak, because it was hotter than Hell outside and the black hair was not cutting it in this weather.

Really, he'd probably have it a different colour in a week or two. The trouble with bleaching dark hair was that roots were a bitch.

In any case, he was bopping around the food table today, stuffing the occasional piece of fruit or muffin or whatever into his backpack, because it was a picnic day, and there was free food, and why the hell not?

"What'd you do to your head?" Cade asked as he ambled up, shirtless.

"Bleached it," Sparkle replied, leaning back a little for a better look because it didn't matter if he was spoken for and Cade was straight, there was a pretty good view being presented, here. "Figured, why the hell not? I probably won't keep it this way for long, but it's less brutal in this freaking heat."

"I never realized being blond was good in the heat," Cade replied. "Huh."

"I dunno, it's like science," Sparkle replied with a shrug of his shoulders. "Black stuff gets hotter faster. I read it in a science book Karina made me take."

Because science?

"That, and I like to change shit up now and then. I've had the same hair for like a year. That's insane."

"I keep my hair the same," Cade said, "and just add ink."

Like his amazing "totes" on the small of his back that would strike fear into the hearts of pirates everywhere.

"Glittery ink?" Sparkle had so noticed that tattoo, yes. "I can undo a haircut. I like to limit my tattoos to when I don't think I'm a valley girl."

"I'd get my name," Sparkle decided, grinning. "Because if you write it with glitter in like rainbow colours, people will think maybe I thought I was a girl at the time or something, but, nope. Just me."

For some reason, Sparkle thought this plan was hilarious. It was probably the heat.

"See, now, you? You have to live with that one. You gonna try to cover it up someday?"

"Probably," Cade said, "or try to make it badass somehow. Maybe flames?"

Sparkle had to bite his cheek to keep from making the obligatory 'flaming' joke.

"Probably depends on the flames," he decided, trying to be diplomatic and mostly just coming off as amused. "Are they going to twinkle, too?"

"Well, keep an eye on that," Sparkle decided, smirking. "I think there's probably only so much fabulousness a person can handle having permanently scarred into their skin."

Cade burst out laughing. "I think so. Ready for workshops again?"

"Ready as I'm ever going to be for one of Fandom's crazy summer terms," Sparkle agreed. "I think I've got some kind of fashion class with the creepy guy and the pony. Or maybe it's a friendship class? I don't even know with these things."

A beat.

"And I'm Wiggin's TA this term. I don't know which class is going to be weirder, with that in mind."

People kept giving him responsibilities, and it confused the hell out of him.
