Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

There were plenty of tables and chairs scattered around the lawn for anyone who wanted to sit down once they'd had their fill of the buffet, or to recover from starting to find out what this place was all about. No one would judge the need to take a mental breather.

Some of the tables were out in the open, for those who weren't allergic to the sun, and some of the tables were in the shade, or far from the rest of the crowd for those who needed a little more space to process. Wherever people decided to rest, there was space enough for everyone.

[OOC: This is part two of the picnic, separated in an effort to save our browsers for as long as possible. Part one, to run into siblings, roommates and teachers, is over here, though teachers are also welcome in this post, of course. Because the picnic is outside, it is open to all students, teachers and townies.]

"The important thing is that so far? No pom poms," Mira noted when she spotted Emma.

"But there are shirtless boys with dumb tattoos," Emma said, nodding in Cade's direction. "And food."

The food was the important thing.

"You can find shirtless boys with dumb tattoos anywhere. Well, if you know where to look," Mira said. "Free food on the other hand, is an actual draw."

Emma was never going to turn down a free meal, but the stupidity of Cade's tattoo was truly notable. "Are the dumb tattoos usually pink and sparkly?"

"In my experience, it usually depends on what kind of boy we're talking about," Mira said. Oh, Nar Shaddaa. You had all kinds of boys. Most of them unwashed.

Emma shrugged. "He at least looks like he showers." The foster system had also a great many unwashed boys.

"I think I've seen engines with less grease than his hair, though," Mira said.

"It's not like I was planning on touching it." She didn't know where he'd been for a start.

"Did he happen to explain what the deal with the shirtlessness is?" Mira asked. "I mean, I've got no room to talk, I'm just curious."

"Not really," Emma said. "He just seemed to be randomly shirtless."

"I guess there's going to be one or two guys like that at any school," Mira said. "So, have people been giving you the rundown yet?"

"I got told it's exactly like the brochure, only more so." Emma still hadn't actually gotten around to reading one yet. "And only one place cards."

"There was a brochure?" Mira asked. "I need to find one of those."

And then the other thing hit. "Wait, cantinas card here? I just keep finding out new things."

"If you want to check it out, I think Kathy from the bus might have one still," Emma said. "Just the one run by a dude who thinks he's a vampire. So you probably wouldn't want to go there anyway."

"I don't think Kathy's going to be friendly with me for a while," Mira noted. "She seems to think I was messing with her when I told her I'm from another galaxy."

"Well, weren't you?" The denial was strong with this one.

"Nope. Human from space who speaks a weirdly identical language as you," Mira said. "And before you ask, I don't really have any kind of special space technology to prove my story. I just have clothes. And a bunch of explosives that are already in the weapons locker."

...

"Right."

"My roommate is clearly an alien. With horns," Mira mentioned after a sigh. "Actually, I've already been through this once today. I just won't bring it up again until you've seen enough of the weird stuff people have told me about."

"That would be nice, yes," said the unknowing fairytale princess. But because she apparently was a masochist "Horns? Really?"
