Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I

The weather was just as hazy, hot and humid as a typical July on the East Coast of the United States could get, but the sun was shining brightly, which was kind of a rarity this summer.

It wasn't raining anything weird, the teal deer were keeping to themselves in the Preserve, and another welcome picnic was underway complete with tables and chairs for chatting around and a buffet table filled (and then some) with all kinds of moddable summer treats.

The lists of new roommates, student siblings and teaching buddies were posted in a prominent location. Now all that was needed were people to enjoy the day!

[OOC: This is part one of the picnic, specifically for meeting siblings, roommates, and teachers. The rest of the picnic will be in post two in an effort to stop our browsers from dying. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers and townies!

There was a new person she didn't recognize here, and Pinkie had been waiting so long that she didn't even care if he was supposed to be her teaching buddy or not. He was getting her welcome wagon, either way.

"Hihihihihihi!" Pinkie greeted (at least hew as used to excited squealing?). "I'm Pinkie Pie, what's your name?"

Drac raised an eyebrow. Not at the fact that he was faced with a talking pony, but because she was so perky this early.

She was probably young; Mavis' age, even.

But polite was polite and perhaps she would tell her parents about this meeting and they would remember it when they decided to choose a vacation spot, soooo. He gave the pony a small smile. "Hello miss Pie. I am Count Dracula." He gave a small bow, his arm leaving his cape to rest at his middle as he did. "It is pleasant meeting you."

Pinkie gasped, hooves leaving the ground with the force of the reaction. "FINALLY!" she said. "I've been waiting for you to show up forever and ever and ever! I'm your new teaching buddy!"

Well that was confusing. "Waiting, my child? But it's so early" He glanced up at the sky that still had trails of red in it.

Wait...

"Teaching... Buddy? What is a teaching buddy?" His accent made the word sound a bit funny, 'bud-dy'.

His accent was adorable. "Well, yeah! The party's been going on for aaaages." She followed his glance and tilted her head. "Ooo, are you a nighttime person? Just like Princess Luna!"

"I do not know this Princess Luna, but I sleep during the day, yes. I am allergic to the sun. I assume that you are not?" Some monsters weren't, but it was still odd to him.

"Nope!" Pinkie said. "I'm already pink, and pretty fuzzy, so the sun doesn't even really burn me much." Only when it would be funny, really. "Advantage: pony!"

"Are there many day monsters at this school?" He had neglected to ask, having spent the last hundred and fifteen years running a nocturnal establishment.

"I'm not sure how many monsters," Pinkie said thoughtfully. "But most people -- they're almost all shaped like you, not like me -- are awake and around during the day. That's when classes are."

"Classes are during the day?" He sighed. He was used to working odd hours, but he was not looking forward to giving up his sleep on purpose. "Well, Mavis will be excited."

"Mavis is my daughter. Mavis Dracula. She's going to be attending classes at the school while I am teaching." Well, it certainly made him smile again! "You will love meeting her; she's like you."

"Mavis is not a pony. She's a vampire," Drac countered. "But yes, she does enjoy having fun. Even I engage in the occasional bingo game."

Drac actually smiled. "That would be delightful. Who is this 'all'? Fellow teachers?"

"Well sure!" Pinkie grinned. "We'd have to invite Derek, he's my best friend-slash-coteacher! He's pretty grumpy on the outside because he's not very well adjusted and he's a werewolf," PINKIE THAT WASN'T ACTUALLY A WHISPER "but he's really a big softie on the inside."

"Awwww!" Pinkie sighed happily. "Kids are the best, but they can really run ya ragged! My friends the Cakes had two little twin foals and they keep everypony on their hooves, that's for sure."
