Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I

The weather was just as hazy, hot and humid as a typical July on the East Coast of the United States could get, but the sun was shining brightly, which was kind of a rarity this summer.

It wasn't raining anything weird, the teal deer were keeping to themselves in the Preserve, and another welcome picnic was underway complete with tables and chairs for chatting around and a buffet table filled (and then some) with all kinds of ~~moddable~~ summer treats.

The lists of new roommates, student siblings and teaching buddies were posted in a prominent location. Now all that was needed were people to enjoy the day!

[OOC: This is part one of the picnic, specifically for meeting siblings, roommates, and teachers. The rest of the picnic will be in post two in an effort to stop our browsers from dying. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers and townies!

"I'm not sure how many monsters," Pinkie said thoughtfully. "But most people -- they're almost all shaped like you, not like me -- are awake and around during the day. That's when classes are."

"Classes are during the day?" He sighed. He was used to working odd hours, but he was not looking forward to giving up his sleep on purpose. "Well, Mavis will be excited."

"Ooo," Pinkie said, sensing a change of subject might be nice for her new friend. "Who's Mavis?"

"Mavis is my daughter. Mavis Dracula. She's going to be attending classes at the school while I am teaching." Well, it certainly made him smile again! "You will love meeting her; she's like you."

"Oh, I like meeting everypony," Pinkie said. "But she sounds like loads of fun!"

"Mavis is not a pony. She's a vampire," Drac countered. "But yes, she does enjoy having fun. Even I engage in the occasional bingo game."

Pinkie gasped, delighted. "I love bingo! We should all get together and play some, sometime!"

Bingo without an occasion? PINKIE, YOU WILD ONE!

Drac actually smiled. "That would be delightful. Who is this 'all'? Fellow teachers?"

"Well sure!" Pinkie grinned. "We'd have to invite Derek, he's my best friend-slash-coteacher! He's pretty grumpy on the outside because he's not very well adjusted and he's a werewolf," PINKIE THAT WASN'T ACTUALLY A WHISPER "but he's really a big softie on the inside."

Drac nodded. "Werewolves usually are. Although my friend Wayne only became grumpy after his first litter was born."

"Awwww!" Pinkie sighed happily. "Kids are the best, but they can really run ya ragged! My friends the Cakes had two little twin foals and they keep everypony on their hooves, that's for sure."

"They certainly are a handful. But they are worth it." Or at least Mavis was.

"I'm looking forward to 'em myself. Just as soon as I meet my very special somepony!"

Drac frowned at that. "Aren't you a bit young to be thinking about that?" He was still having trouble believing she was a fellow teacher.

"Pfft," Pinkie scoffed, waving a hoof. "I'm twenty four!"

...

"A hundred twenty four?"

"I don't look THAT old, do I?!"

Where was Rarity and her age defying beauty cremes when she needed her?!

"No no! Of course not!" Drac held up his hands, trying to calm her down. "You don't look a day over 121!"

Women.

"I'm not a princess!" Pinkie said, hooves pulling at her cheeks. "If I were over a hundred I'd be all wrinkly and wobbly!" For a moment, she'd managed to get her face as sagged as Granny Smith's, then it snapped back like she was actually made of rubber. "How old do ponies get in your world?"

"I'm over a hundred." Well over, thank you, Pinkie.

Drac bent over to peer closely at her. "Pony? As in... a pony?"

Pinkie looked at her hooves. She flicked her ears and peered up at her forelock, then twisted her head around to check her hindquarters and tail.

"Yep. Pony!"

"You're not a pony... monster?" he tried. Because, uhm. Talking? And pink?

Very pink. SO very pink.

"Well, my friends think I'm pretty weird, and there aren't any other ponies like me around here so I guess some might consider me a monster, but noooooooo. Just an earth pony."

...

...

"And you're talking? Teaching?"

"Yeeeeees?" Pinkie gave him an odd look. "Why, you got somethin' against a pony having a good job?"
