Try Not To Die! [Tuesday, June 25, 3rd Period]

Just like they had for the past several weeks, class met up in the usual spot outside the Portalocity office, only today there was a distinct lack of Skywalker presence.

"Ben and Grandfather are a little bit . . . incapacitated right now," said Anakin (Solo), looking bemused, "but you're not getting out of it that easily. Actually, you're heading to --" He consulted his datapad. "Hanoi, Vietnam today. And while there isn't anything specifically planned to get you soaked in something, or covered in mud, there's no guarantees it won't happen. Sorry."

That was probably not more reassuring than usual.

Theo thought he could learn a dance pretty quickly. Theo was, of course, so so wrong. He did awful. He kept stepping on the bamboo or had it whack his ankles and had to start over.

He was pretty sure the instructors were laughing at him but he kept at it even if Dev just told him to take the pass and relax because his finish didn't count anyway.

After a long while, he managed to get the dance down and finally moved on.

Korra made it through the roadblock with a minimum of thwacks.

Apparently that whole be battered by spinning panels as part of her airbending training paid off in more ways than one.

In theory, Raven figured this part would be easy. Of course, she ended up with the world's most particular instructor, who wouldn't give her her next clue until she did the dance absolutely perfectly. And she was pretty sure the people with the canes were trying to trip her up on purpose.

Chaz could figure out where the bamboo canes would be. This was not being as helpful as he figured since apparently moving out of the way of said canes took talent he did not have.

He was covered with bruises by the end and had fallen over several times.

Dancing wasn't normally Victor's thing, but a few good whaps on the ankle got him to memorize the steps quickly. He stumbled away from the instructor, feeling grateful and rubbing his ankles on his way to the next clue.

Maddie didn't think herself very coordinated, so she expected this to be absolute hell. And sure enough, she did screw it up right off the bat a couple times, meaning she had to start over. And the more frustrated she got, the more determined she became to get through it.

So she actually ended up getting through it faster than she thought she would. Who knew?

Also her ankles hurt.

Theo immediately veered away from cooking and went to play human chess. He was already pretty far behind so he tried to stay relaxed and used the other four pairs of eyes in his head to look for the symbols he needed.

He managed to find them fairly quickly and actually made up some time once he got them on the board and grabbed his final clue.

Korra decided to go for the human chess, unfortunately, she didn't know the slightest thing about chess. This couldn't have been a nice friendly game of Pai Sho, instead?

She lost a good chunk of the time she's gain from the roadblock before she figured it out.

Chess was more of a Charles thing, so Raven figured she'd go with the cooking.

Big mistake. She wasn't exactly the world's greatest cook -- she didn't have the patience to make sure she got everything right. And those live chickens took an instant dislike to her, slowing her down at every pass.

She was pretty sure the chef was cursing at her in Vietnamese. This was just not her day.

Chaz was seriously developing a hatred of chickens. And he actually liked cooking.

Human chess sounded like a much better match for Victor's skills than cooking. He got one lucky break, stumbling across the first match almost before he knew what the puzzle was, and then raced through the rest of the game.

Maddie went for the chess thing, because there was no way she was going to be able to manage the cooking thing. She didn't find the matching too hard, either, though she was pretty sure she lucked out in most of it.

Or all of it, whatever.

Theo trotted in, just grateful that he'd managed to finish the stupid dance thing without hurting himself. He figured he'd finished near the back of the pack but he'd finished, at least.

He was never taking this place again.

Raven did not look too pleased when she came up, no. She was peering around as though she expected someone else to come up and start cursing at her in a language she didn't know. Or possibly trip her with a cane. Or throw a live chicken at her.

"Please tell me I'm at least not last?"

"First!" Victor shouted as he ran to the mat, then grinned as he shoved his hair back with one sweaty hand. "Sorry about that. I, uh, get excited when I win."

Maddie was doing better than she would have thought when she got over here, though her ankle did still hurt. That'd either get iced or she was going to float around for the rest of the day.
