Try Not to Die!!! [Tuesday, June 18, 2013, 3rd period]

Anakin and Ben were back at Portalocity. "Today we're heading to Delhi, India," Anakin said, pointing to it on a map he'd made Ben hold up. "It's very humid, very hot, and very, very crowded. Please don't get too lost during your challenges."

Though he and Ben had built in time for them to get completely turned around at least twice.

"Have fun," Ben said with a warm smile, "and, um, hope you don't love what you're wearing."

That wasn't foreboding at all, was it, class?

Yeah, Korra decided it wasn't cheating to use a bit of subtle airbending and waterbending to make sure she reached the top relatively dry and clean.

Theo's headache from yesterday had gone away but he figured he'd have a few one after a morning getting pelted with all sorts of things. His first few attempts at climbing the ladders failed miserably. The words 'try again' were going to haunt him, he was sure.

But, he got lucky and managed to find the right clue and skittered down the ladder, wet and colorful but not completely out of the race.

Maddie still had way too many thoughts about the weekend and any and all resulting calls from it, which was probably why she did fairly okay at this. For someone who used to think she was't athletic at all, the climbing wasn't any problem, and she was too distracted to care if she was getting hit with anything.

Though she did kind of just want to drop water balloons on the people getting her messy when this was over.

. . . yeah, good thing Anakin was used to getting hit with various questionable liquids. He was mentally resigned to the whole thing -- especially because he was used to his family's particular brand of meanness by now -- by the time he started climbing up the ladders.

He probably could have Force-deflected more of the water and dye on his way up, but he was still working on this whole non-gratuitous-usage thing.

So yes, he was a sodden mess, and a cranky one since it took him a while to find the clue. Actually, he'd gone through so many "Try Again!" envelopes that he was very close to suspecting the entire thing was a trick. And then he actually found the clue, which . . . didn't make him much less cranky.

The nice thing about spotting patterns? Chaz could figure out the quickest and cleanest route between each envelope, even if it did take him several tries to find one with a clue. He was still more colorful and wet than he was at the beginning.

The very first ladder left Raven almost completely covered in blue dye which . . . yeah, pretty much just figured. Getting hit in the face with pink after that just meant she had purple streaks dripping down her front, and then she just figured she'd have to roll with it until she got the whole thing over with.

She was a veritable rainbow by the time she was done, and once again really, really glad she wasn't wearing actual clothing, but kind of wishing that she was magic instead of a mutant, so she could just shift and make all the colors go away.

Mercy was rolling her eyes as she climbed, really glad she'd just worn jeans and an old t-shirt.

So gross.

An Emily-shaped figure emerged from the ladders way too late, and all too ´pissed.

Finding the stall and hauling the chillies hadn't been actually that hard, but grinding them took a bit of elbow grease.

Theo went with the bleary eyed challenged because he figured he had six sets of eyes and hopefully that would work to his advantage. Theo moved slowly and he occasionally got thrown off by Ange or Dev arguing about which line to follow but they all got on the same page eventually and Theo was able to get the statue going so he could run off.

Maddie decided to go with the thing that required less focus today. The only thing slowing her down was finding the store, which she really thought would be easier than it was.

And grinding the peppers down was actually kind of cathartic.

Anakin opted for the chili pepper transportation task, since after the envelopes he wasn't in the mood to deal with tangled power lines.

That was a mistake; the chili powder really got to him, and he had to spend a while splashing his face with water (and cheating a little bit with some Force techniques) just so he could see again before he set out for the finish line.

For once, Chaz's rule of choosing the first option no matter what came in handy. He easily followed the power line in a pattern that may have looked bizarre to anyone watching.

Raven went for the chilis without even thinking about it too much. Of course, she got lost once in the market, and briefly considered just going native and not bothering to finish the challenge at all, but once she found the store, things went pretty smoothly from there.

Well, as smoothly as lugging around 40 pounds of anything and then having to grind it all by hand could ever go.

Mercy decided on following the tag numbers since she could use her sense of smell to help sort out the different lines. Plus, she figured the smells of all the chili powder would practically kill her.

It didn't take too long, though there was more than one person who stared at all the different colors she was dripping with along the way.

Yeah Emily was just going to follow wires and mope. A lot.

She wasn't even trying, guys.

Korra wasn't entirely sure how she'd managed to acquire a bag of chilli flavoured snacks between the detour and the finish line, but somehow she had. They weren't as good as fire flakes, but still tasty.

Theo was finally drying out from getting dyed earlier but he didn't think he'd done as bad as the last few weeks, at least.

So, he'd take it...and immediately head to the showers once he found out how he'd placed.

Okay so Maddie sort of wouldn't mind if her eyes would stop tearing (she should probably stop wiping them, really), but she wasn't frustrated and hating life by the time she got to the check-in, which probably meant she did decently.

Well. She wasn't frustrated and hating life any more than normal.
