Driver's Ed, Feb 15th (8th period)

The Danger Shop is set up to look like... well, like the bumper cars ride at a fair. There's even a cotton candy machine near the entrance.

"I know a lot of classes are having midterms right now, so I thought maybe you guys could use a break," Tommy says, by way of explanation. "Have fun."

Unfortunately for Archie, the steering wheel on a bumper car didn't work quite the same way a ship's wheel did, and for all his valiant spinning he only managed to spin himself right back around into the same position that had made him such a good target in the first place.

The impact made him appreciate the seatbelts, but he was laughing all the same as he flailed a foot at the pedal, trying to ram her back.

Unfortunately for him, the pedal he found first was the brake.

"A ha!" Ivanova crowed, spinning the wheel to back up and ram into him again, but at an angle so her own car spun off to one side, jerking her from side to side.

Archie laughed and flailed about with his foot some more, finally locating the accelerator and . . . flooring it. Which of course, this being a bumper car, didn't exactly rocket him across the floor, but it did ram him into Ivanova's car with quite a bit of force. Enough to make his foot fly off the pedal again.

With a little practice, this could be a more effective way of resolving personal honor conflicts than a duel any day.

"Ow!" Ivanova exclaimed, but she was laughing as she turned the car and zoomed around in a circle, aiming for him again. She was getting the hang of this. It was just the need for constant acceleration that was killing her, causing her to slow down abruptly.
