Try Not to Die!!! [Tuesday, May 28, 2013]

"Today you will not get muddy," Anakin promised with a smile as he and Ben loitered in the lobby of the Portalocity office.

"And if you've gotten better at boat paddling, you won't get wet, either!" Ben added, which was probably not what the students wanted to hear. "We're going to Argentina today, which is a country in South America, a continent below North America."

"South of it, even," Anakin added a bit dryly, and Ben blushed. "You know the way this works by now--we'll meet you at the finish line. Good luck, don't anger the locals...your time starts now."

Gee, I wonder what option a Water tribe girl might pick here.

Hint, it was the one with the boat.

Theo really didn't think he could do either, if he was honest. He was a distance runner, sure, but seven miles was seven miles.

He ended going with the bicycle and hopped down. He pedaled fast at the urging of Dev but that only made him tired quicker. So, while he made it, his legs felt like jelly as he headed to the next activity.

Alex didn't take very long decided what to do. She went with the one she already knew how to do, ride a bike. She actually made very good time, something that surprised her.

Apparently, she was very determined today.

Seven miles? Seven. Miles.

She knew how to ride a bike, so she went with that, even though it was down a railroad track. She went fast enough at first, but it didn't take long for her to slow down, and was there a complaint she could file about this?

Victor was going for the bicycling because it seemed more straightforward than white water anything. The ride was hot and dusty, and seven miles was longer than it sounded when you hadn't been on a bike in recent memory. But he didn't fall off or get lost or anything, and he felt pretty good about his performance as he got to the end and picked up his clue envelope.

Yeah, no. These were both horrible options.

Gert knew right off the bat that she was not going to succeed today, so instead of going with something that could be completed in a reasonable amount of time and putting a respectable amount of effort into it, she went for the white-water rafting, which at least sounded like an experience. The guide seemed annoyed by her non-competitive attitude, but really. Just no.

It's better if no one asked how Chaz had gotten experience peddling very, very quickly down a railroad track on a bicycle. At least this time no one was chasing him.

Anakin opted for the rafting, and it was entirely possible that he had so much fun with it that he forgot about trying to make good time; having sworn off going out on actual missions until Tahiri was healed up enough to go with him meant he had a lot of energy to burn off, so the adrenaline rush of the rafting was . . . well, he got a little lost in it, and stopped caring about getting to the end of the seven mile course as quickly as possible.

Riding down a railroad track didn't sound anywhere near as charming as riding through Amsterdam, and white water rapids sounded pretty exciting -- and also had the bonus of the water helping to propel her along. She was quite determined to do well, this week, and every little bit counted.

She nearly fell off the boat four times, but hey, at least she made really good time!

Bicycle.

Totally the bicycle. It was even moderately enjoyable.

Pedaling it was. She was in good shape, so that wasn't so tough. She smiled at the guide and checked out her next clue.

Re: Detour: Pedal or Paddle!

[personal profile] dressedinblood 2013-05-29 01:15 am (UTC)(link)
Anna, having missed the second week of class due to losing track of time (it happened when you were dead) had just realized something she hadn't the first week, distracted as she had been by the new classness of it all: this class wasn't held on the island. It was really somewhere else, not a simulation like that Danger Shop thing. She was, apparently, no longer stuck on the island.

She was so distracted by being unable to wait to get back to the island to see if she could get off of it that she kept messing up paddling her boat, even though she was usually pretty decent at boats.

Korra had gained enough time on the rapids that she decided to take her time and savour this roadblock. Because, mmm, delicious meat.

Re: Roadblock: Hope You're Hungry

[identity profile] theoplustwo.livejournal.com 2013-05-28 12:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Theo didn't like the look of that meat. He sat down with the plate and started eating it but he ate very slowly. The tastes were unfamiliar and there was just so much of it that he knew he was going to end up with a stomachache later.

Even Dev and Ange shut up during this because they were both horrified.

Alex was a bit horrified at this task, but she wasn't going to skip it. She sat down and took her time. It took awhile to get through it all, but she did it. Ugh.

She might become a vegetarian now.

Maddie did it. She did. It was actually easier when she could distract herself with revenge fantasies about punching her teachers for today, like right in the face. She could always claim she thought the younger one was a TA...

Mexican food liked organ meats almost as much as Argentinian food, so Victor wasn't surprised by anything about the food in front of him except the sheer amount. He got his portion down without too much reliance on his (literal) cast-iron stomach.

He wasn't thrilled by the salivary glad thing, though. Because ew.

Well, now Gert was sort of pleased she hadn't managed to successfully make breakfast earlier.

After taking way, way too long on the first task, she proceeded to take her time on this one too. The food wasn't bad, just really different and in serious abundance. Gah.

[identity profile] notyetplatypus.livejournal.com 2013-05-28 03:09 pm (UTC)(link)
This day was designed for Chaz. He had absolutely no problem putting away a large quantity of meat like objects at a very quick pace. Plus, it helped make up for the bicycle ride.

Sure there were already people here, but not as many as last week, and she'd just had four pounds of tasty animals, so really, Korra'd already won.
