Language Classes, Tuesday

All language students:

If you have requested to join a class, consider yourself enrolled. Class rosters will be updated throughout the week. Remember that Friday is your last day to ADD or DROP a class.

Because we have so many new people, all vocabulary quizzes are postponed until next week. We will still be doing sign-ups for class presentations this week: I would like to start those in two weeks.

I will cover last week's lectures during lab hours this week, except for Friday: this Friday's lab hours will be a showing of Wings of Desire, open to all interested students. I strongly encourage European language students to attend.

There are no office hours today but I will be available during lab hours.

Inflected languages would be ones that grammatically change words to show tense and gender and stuff, wouldn't it? Like in Latin, where you have to conjugate things all the time.

That's correct. As languages develop they tend to move away from inflection, but it's still used somewhat in the languages we'll be covering.

So we'll start with going over parts of speech.
