Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

There were plenty of tables and chairs scattered around the lawn for anyone who wanted to sit down once they'd had their fill of the buffet, or to recover from starting to find out what this place was all about. No one would judge the need to take a mental breather.

Some of the tables were out in the open, for those who weren't allergic to the sun, and some of the tables were in the shade, or far from the rest of the crowd. Wherever people decided to rest, there was space enough for everyone.

[OCD is up! This is the post for general mingling! Roommates, fake siblings and teachers are all here! Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

Raven had spent the last several years trying desperately to blend in with a very polite society. Circa sixty years ago.

"Raven," she said, offering a gloved hand. Though no one else was wearing them that she'd seen, so maybe she should take them off. "I'm a sophomore, from New York."

"Raven," Bay repeated as she took the hand. She noticed the glove but didn't think too much about it. "Cool name. About as weird as mine."

This was not a criticism; Bay liked her name.

"So, welcome to Fandom. How's it going so far?"

"It's really strange," Raven said. "People talk about superheroes and there was a pony driving the bus and apparently some of the teachers let you call them by their first names."

Also, there were apparently portals and alternate worlds and did she mention the pony?

"I'm not totally convinced this isn't all just a side effect of high speed air travel."

"I was going more for hallucinations." Who knew what jet lag could do to a girl, really? "I'd never flown anywhere before."

"Oh!" That made a lot more sense. "I could tell you you aren't, but if I'm a hallucination too that doesn't really help, does it?"
