Library is Open, February 15

Zero opens up the library and settles in behind the desk. For all your bookish needs.

"Nothing," Angel assured her. "Haven't heard a thing. I don't talk to people much." He gave her a look. "For whatever that's worth to you."

Rory frowned, mildly appeased. "Oh, okay. Good." She eyed him carefully. "So like, if you knew something...somehow...you wouldn't say anything?"

"Correct." Another look.

"Good to know." Rory smiled. "Vampire thing I don't know about that tells you stuff like this?"

"Pretty much," Angel admitted. "Comes in handy sometimes. Others, little too much information."

"Does it tell you, um, who? Or just that I...?" Rory trailed off, turning red.

In response, Angel quietly nodded at "Tell you who?"

"Ah." Rory was now a very dark red. "Okay. It's a secret, obviously. And don't say anything to him, okay?"

"No problem," Angel said. "Saying anything involves words. I hate that."

"Words suck," Rory agreed, pulling a sheet of paper out of her bag. It read:

Angela
Parker
~~Smith~~
Prof. Tick
Bridge
Mom

At the bottom, she quickly scrawled Angel.

"So. Anyway. Want to talk about like, anything else?"

"In theory. But that's, you know, talking." Angel grinned at her.

"And talking is bad," Rory agreed, returning the grin. "Anyway. Anything I can help you find?"

"Just browsing around for Campaigning," Angel said. "I've got homework I need to catch up on."

Rory's smile widened. "You're sticking with it, then?"

"We'll see," Angel said. "I had a talk with Prof. Lyman and he convinced me to give it a shot."

"Yay!" Rory said happily. "He's a good teacher."

"Hopefully he's a good teacher who won't flunk me."

"You know, if you need tutoring or something, I can probably help you," Rory offered.

"I need to buckle down and do the work," Angel said. He sighed, leaning against the desk. "I know it probably sounds stupid. Not like I'm going to college once I'm done. But... I feel like I'm making a show of myself, you know? Proving something, after last semester."

"It's not stupid. It's kind of admirable," Rory replied.

Angel smiled. "Thanks. After that? Who knows."

"So how come you're not going to college?" Rory asked, frowning thoughtfully. "I mean, you're in high school...."

"Once I'm done here I'm not holding off on the good fight anymore," Angel said. "I'm going back to my dimension to try to do what Buffy does. Only without her."

It's possible he looked a tiny bit intimidated by that.

"Oh," Rory said thoughtfully. "Couldn't you go to college there? Can't do the fighty thing all the time."

"I think I'm at a 'School of life' stage," Angel said. "Or I will be. There's no colleges that offer courses like they have here."
