Library, Wednesday, All Day

Sholeh was very not happy with what had happened in class today. Very not happy at all. As soon as she'd opened her mouth, she'd begun saying all sorts of things that she'd really rather not have shared with anyone, especially not an entire class of students.

It was a relief to be able to escape into the library. Hopefully the rules governing quiet in the library would keep her from saying too much. Doubtful, but a girl could hope, couldn't she?

Because this would be the BEST DAY EVER

A vaguely bemused Ulrik came in carrying a pizza box.

"You'll never believe what happened to me at the pizza place," a pause, as he evaluated Sholeh's not-too-pleased expression. "Or perhaps you would."

"If it worse than mentioning multiple faces in front of your whole class?!?" Sholeh grumped.

"Oh dear," Ulrik said. "Did- did anyone react badly? Because I'd be quite willing to talk with them, if we define 'talk' as 'punch in the face'."

That was... perhaps a little more blunt than he was accustomed to being.

"It makes me feel happier than it really should that you would punch someone for me," Sholeh admitted. "I don't like violence, but I appreciate you sticking up for me. But it's weird, thinking of you as dreamy."

And cue all of the blushing in the world. "I don't! I normally don't! I'm sorry that I don't, but you're one of my best friends, even though you're handsome, please don't think I'm weird?"

"You, I do not find weird," Ulrik said honestly (as if there were any other way to say things, today). "I did think your situation with your sisters was weird, at first, because it was so utterly unlike anything I've had experience with. But weird or not, you- and your sisters- are dear friends, and I'd gladly stand in the way of anyone who'd intend you harm." A beat, and then because he apparently wasn't done with the blurting out of truths: "I do find you attractive, and were my own future less defined, or I inclined to take after my father's example, I would have gladly sought your attentions romantically." Ulrik did not blush often, but oh, there it was.

Was it her surprised fish expression he thought cute? The one where she opened and closed her mouth a few times but no sounds came out? Because that's what she was doing right now.

Oh. And blinking. Lots of blinking. "Me?" she asked when words could happen again, glancing over her shoulder as if there were possible someone else behind her.

There wasn't, so she looked back to him. And then blushed. A lot. "Thank you," she whispered. "That's very--I mean--I have no idea what to say. Other than that makes me feel very special." Her toes were curling in her shoes. "And that I'm glad for the friendship we have. And my sisters are going to tease me about this forever, but I don't even care."

"You," Ulrik confirmed. "And you should feel so, because you are quite special, and- this Evan fellow I've been hearing over the radio who's been spending so much time with you- do I need to have a talk with him regarding his intentions? Because I will."

Cue more furious blushing and laughter from Sholeh. "Intentions?" she asked. "He doesn't have intentions. He can't have--"

Her face fell as a realization dawned. The laughter stopped to be replaced by vigorous headshaking. "He can't have intentions! He just can't!"

"Why would you say that?" Ulrik questioned, crossing his arms casually over his chest. "What about your intentions?" Which was maybe a little underhanded, given that no one could lie today, but he was curious.

"Because if he has intentions, I'd have to avoid him," Sholeh said softly. "It is forbidden for a Tryad to fall in love with a one-face."

She shuddered. "I'd have to choose. Him or my sisters."
