Public Speaking [Tuesday, February 5, 1st period]

Today they were meeting in the Danger Room, which, after some finessing, had been made to look like a dive bar in Georgetown. Not that Josh had ever spent time hitting on college girls while he was in the White House.

He had hit on grad students. It was much less creepy.

"Hope you worked on being persuasive this last week," he said, "because this is the true test--you have thirty seconds, maybe--to make an impression good enough that the other person isn't going to get bored or annoyed."

That's right folks, you're working on your pick-up lines. Who said class wasn't useful?

"Start up conversations with as many people as possible. Person with the most phone numbers at the end of the time gets extra credit," Josh replied. "You have half of class to do it, and then--" he pounded on the bar in a drumroll imitation, "Natalie Adams is our press secretary today. You are also my TA. Try not to bring shame upon me."

Sparkle figured he kind of had a built-in advantage in this situation. After all, chicks were totally into gay guys, right?

Not that he was particularly into them, but that did seem to be how it went, anyhow. He smirked a little, and then looked around for someone to try to pick up. Hopefully they wouldn't be too disappointed when he put them down again.

Oh, Gert was scowling so hard. Look at her hanging off to the side and crossing her arms and being generally ragey.

It was unlikely that Gert was getting any numbers.

Kate was in a stupidly bad mood, but it wasn't like she hadn't been dealing with 'society' since she was little and taking etiquette classes. So she flashed a practiced smile and gave it a try.

OHGODOHGODOHGOD...

"But but but...I'm not old enough to be in a bar! Or flirting with boys!"

Breeeeeeeeeeathe, Minako, it's just pretend.

Jessica's preferred line was, "I bet I know more digits of pi than you." The two people who seemed intrigued by this were put off when she could prove that she did know more digits than them.

She ended the class without any numbers.

Richie was quite charming when he put his mind to it. Of course, Richie's charm was well-suited to teenage girls of the early 90s and didn't translate perfectly to teenage girls of 2013. Oops?
