Library, Wednesday, All Day
The charm of her birthday necklace kept catching the lights as Sholeh moved around the library, stacking and shelving and doing other responsible library aide things. Or, well, trying to do those things, except the charm would glint and catch her attention and then she'd pause and smile a bit and then laugh at herself for being silly and then hastily quiet and blush on the off-chance anyone had come in and heard her giggling to herself. Like a ninny.
The saddest thing was when you knew you were being a ninny and still couldn't help yourself. That was downright inexcusable.
When she wasn't working or giggling or otherwise embarrassing her sisters, Sholeh could be found at the desk, flipping through magazines and wondering how she would look in some of the outfits worn by the models in them. Though if anyone asked, she was going to claim it was homework for Pop Culture. Ninny or not, she had some pride.

Talk to Sholeh
Re: Talk to Sholeh
"Sholeh?" she called, looking around.
Re: Talk to Sholeh
It was a few moments longer than Sholeh would normally respond to her name being called before she ducked her head out of an aisle. "Yeul, hello!" she said, hoping the smile she could not hide would be taken for one of welcome. "How are you? Can I help you find something?"
Must. Not. Giggle.
Re: Talk to Sholeh
By the time that Sholeh ducked her head out, Yeul had wandered over to the aide's desk. She smiled back at Sholeh. "Hello! I was looking for someone," she said, "rather than something." Her voice turned teasing, "Do you know where Sholeh might be? I have cookies, though they're not homemade."
Leftovers from yesterday with Jack, truly, but sharing was something Yeul enjoyed.
Re: Talk to Sholeh
Sholeh appreciated Yeul giving her something normal to laugh at as she said, "You know, let me see if I can find her. I'm sure she's here somewhere." And then ducked back into the stacks.
=You. Are. Ridiculous,= Zeela sighed.
::Hush, I am having a good day,:: Sholeh chided. ::Nothing wrong with that.::
*But it's because of a boooo~oooy!* Zhahar said in singsong. *Sholeh has a cruuuuu~uuush!*
"Hush the both of you!"
Inside voice, Sholeh. Really-inside voice.
Re: Talk to Sholeh
Yeul just laughed at Sholeh's ducking back into the stacks becuase it was cute and it was obvious that she was in a good mood, which was never a bad thing.
But when Sholeh spoke again, Yeul was left confused.
"Sholeh?" Yeul called. "Do you already have company?"
She could come back another time! Or share her cookies with everyone?
Re: Talk to Sholeh
"Just talking to the books!" she called, trying not to blush too badly at being caught talking to her sisters--and then having to lie about it. She hurried back out and gave Yeul a fond shake of her head. "Sometimes the books fight with one another. It's silly to tell them to hush since they're not exactly talking, but..."
It was only because Sholeh had done something rather similar multiple times during her shifts that she was able to say that with such ease. It was true in itself, just not in that it had anything to do with what she'd actually been doing.
And after Yeul left, Sholeh would commence feeling really awful about lying to her friend. Why did secrets make everything so hard?
But for now, she was going to be all smiles. Fortunately, even after lying, it still wasn't that hard for her to conjure one up. The slight weight around her neck helped with that. "Did I hear you say something about cookies?"
Re: Talk to Sholeh
"I did mention cookies," she said, offering Sholeh the bag to help herself. "I'm glad you were found. The aide is a very nice one." Yeul smiled. "One time when I was visiting Evan the books were playing leapfrog. It was very cute. I hope the books aren't getting along too badly."
Because then she'd feel sorry for them.
Re: Talk to Sholeh
See, look! She was talking about him, but totally casually. She was fine.
"It sounds strange to say, but I think the books are kind of like people. Some get along fine, some don't. But, for the most part, they get along okay."
Re: Talk to Sholeh
"I enjoy visiting people," she added. "It is not the same as travelling the way I'm used to but it is quite pleasant."
Re: Talk to Sholeh
And the cookies.

Re: Talk to Sholeh
As for Yeul's question...that took a bit of though. "I don't know," Sholeh admitted. "I only ever traveled here. This place is good for me--I've got the library, and all the books I want, and friends like you and Ulrik and, uhh, Evan--" why yes, there WAS a blush and a giggle there, "--but at the same time, it's still pretty scary. It's nothing like home, which I know is good for me but, it's so different and alien sometimes, it's hard to know which way it up. Do you ever feel like that?"
