He glanced down at his list. "And before you ask, the other teachers know about this assignment, so don't worry about bringing your new shadow to class with you. All right,the pairings are : Anna Korlov and Jack Frost, Loki Laufeyson and Madeline Berry, Paddra Nsu-Yeul and Po of Lienid, and Surreal SaDiablo and Victor Mancha. Try not to kill each other."

Maddie nodded. "I can deal with that. What are your feelings on dinosaurs?"

See, it was hard to have a problem rooming with Gert when she got to say things like that.

"Are they trying to eat me?"

"Probably not," she replied.

"Then I have no problem with them." He'd just have Thor destroy it if it attacked him.

"Okay, good. My roommate has one," she explained.

"...how does one have a dinosaur? Is your roommate from the Savage Land?"

"No. It was from her parents, I guess," Maddie said. "My parents never got me anything that cool."

Granted, Maddie's parents sucked.

...Though so did Gert's, so.

"My father wants me dead," Loki replied. Because, you know, Norse family drama.

Well, she hadn't been expecting that one.

"Oh. I'm sorry?" Was there an appropriate response to that?

"I have my brother instead." A beat. "Oh, you shall need to meet him!"

"That could be cool," she said, clinging to the positive here. "Who's your brother?"

"He is a teacher here," he replied cheerfully. "Thor."

Maddie stared at him.

"What."

"He teaches Sex Ed with Captain America."

"I'm repressing that that class exists," she said, shaking her head like she was batting away the thought. She borrowed books from Captain America, she did not learn sex ed from him. "You're that Loki?"

"I am Loki of Asgard, currently located in the plains of Oklahoma."

"Why are you in school?"

Why was that the first question she came up with?

"...because?" THAT WAS A REASON.

"Nothing better to do-" She stopped, thinking about it. "Maybe staying in school's the right thing to do, actually..."

"It is that or watch the rebuilding of Asgard." You know, the city he destroyed?

"...Right. This place is going to liquify my brain," she realized.
