Class today was not set in a magical field. No, today it was set in a normal classroom. Whoa. Whoa. Calm yourselves, boys and girls.

And ponies. Mostly the pony.

Derek was there again, still looking surly and uncomfortable in front of the class. "Friends talk," he said like he was possibly being forced to. Forced by the threatened tears of his co-teacher. "Today we're talking."

That we did not include him. He hoped. You'd think he'd know better by now.

"That was great!" Pinkie enthused, hooves springing into the air like they were, well, filled with springs. "Didn't Derek do a great job, students?" She believed in positive reinforcement. Though possibly couldn't tell you what "positive reinforcement" meant. "We're gonna put you all into groups and then give you something to talk about. It's great practice!" She pulled out a set of index cards from pretty much nowhere and spread them out face down on one of the desks. "So come pick out a card, and find who got the same topic you did!"

And please, please don't question where those cards had been before this point.

"I'm hoping not. Unless maybe it's meat made by fairies?" Billy said. "That sounds... slightly better."

"Where I'm from, they mostly eat hallucinogenic fruit," Alec commented offhandedly. "Hallucinogenic to non-faeries, that is."

His world, man.

"I don't know if we have fairies where I'm from, but I'd imagine them to be vegetarians too," Billy said.

"If you ever meet any, don't eat anything they give you," Alec said helpfully. "It ends with streaking down a popular city block with antlers on your head, in my experience."

Not his experience. Secondhand, eyewitness experience.
