Library, Sunday

Billy had thought about christening his new day of library shifts by cleaning things up front, but someone had returned a whole pile of French cookbooks, so he was spending the start of his shift having a foodgasm instead. It was a valid use of his time, really.

"Please tell me you're working here and not just hanging out at the library on Sunday," Kate said as she wandered into the library.

She was exploring. That made up for being in the library for no apparent reason on Sunday.

She grinned back. "I don't know. Aren't there video games to play somewhere?" But the 'working' part explained it. "You found yourself a strange school here, Kaplan." Technically she'd found it too but whatever.

"I'm probably going to have a video game date later," Billy teased. "It's the good kind of weird, right? Have you met a lot of the other students?"

"Oh good. I was getting worried about you," Kate smirked. "Some of them, I guess. My 'big sibling' -" she shot Billy a look because really? A 'big sibling?' "- is pretty cool. Also he uses a bow."

Okay, far be it for Topher to visit the library with a phenomenally good reason, but as it happened, Billy pretty much counted as one of those. So.

"You have a new day," Topher announced as he walked in with a tupperware container in one hand. "Or I've completely lost track of the days of the week. New day?"

She kind of hated admitting that. Even though it was totally obvious she was new.

"New day," Billy verified, sticking a piece of paper into the cookbook he was reading to mark his page. "It's been a little quieter, which is nice. What have you got there?" he asked, motioning to the tupperware.

Being a redhead was not being blond! "Yeah, I'm sure I'm not thinking of Tommy," Kate snapped. Tommy who she was also not dating!

She eyed him suspiciously. "You're dating Billy. Kaplan." She gestured towards the boy in question. Look, there could be a misunderstanding here.

It was true, Fran Kranz's hair could be pretty confusing. But it was also totally blond! In most icons.

"That'd be the one," Topher confirmed. "Otherwise it's weird that he visited my house and we sometimes kiss a lot."

"Well, I was thinking about getting you coffee, but then I remembered it was raining chocolate-covered strawberries in the store yesterday," Topher explained as he set the tupperware down on the desk. "And these were free, minus the damage to the exposed equpiment, and they're chocolate, so I figured they're better than coffee."

"It's possible to visit someone's house and kiss a lot without dating," Kate pointed out, still holding on to that last vestige of hope. It probably wasn't a Thing for Billy though.

The confusing haired one was being glared at. (And Billy was going to get wtf'd at later, sorry, Billy) "So you're dating one of my best friends. That means I get to give you the 'hurt him, and using you for target practice will be the nicest thing I do to you' talk."

"Yeah, but Billy's a lot nicer than I am," Kate shared back. And Kate shipped Teddy/Billy hardcore so there was lots of fun resentment that she'd be happy to take out on him there.

Relevant or not, it was kind of a sweet thing to say, and Kate couldn't help approving of that at least. (Though Kate also thought that her approval mattered so...)

"January 27th of last year," Topher reported, kind of quickly. "...Wow. That's a really long time ago. Am I supposed to get him something for the whole it's-been-a-year thing?"
