Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I

It was a new year, and with the new year came the new spring term, and Fandom High was all set to welcome its new students, along with those just returning from holiday trips home. It was a familiar setting for the latter bunch: there was the requisite bonfire, with tables and chairs scattered around it, as well as the buffet table with moldable warm food and drinks.

And of course, name tags and lists of Big and Little Siblings as well as roommates. Yep, the weather was okay for early January, and Fandom was all ready to celebrate the start of a new term.

[OCD up! This is part one of the picnic, specifically for meeting siblings, roommates, and teachers. The rest of the picnic is happening here and here, in an effort to keep browsers from breaking for as long as possible. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

"Yeah, that's kind of normal for here," Hanna added. "Also normal for here? People from alternate time lines. You might meet someone who knows you that you haven't met, yet, in your time line."

That's one Fandom oddity Hanna had yet to experience. "There's also the occasional Fandom invasion. Anything from creepy dolls..."

She paused to shudder. "...to adorable kittens. That's how I got my cat."

"You mean that stuff just walks in here?" That actually fazed her a bit. "That's less normal. And then what does it do?"

"They usually just go away on their own without causing any harm or anything," Hanna replied. "Usually lasts a day or a weekend. That's also the same for when people turn into random stuff like animals or kids...I was five twice."

She didn't even get into the gender swapping. There was so much to explain about Fandom. It'd take days! Or something.

"It's easier to just go with it," Hanna advised. "Hurts the brain less. Plus, there's so much about this place that's awesome. Most people are nice and accepting."
arsenicmauls: (conv: that went well)

"O...kay." The being-aged-down was a little weirder than the rest of it, it turned out. "Would I get anywhere if I asked what the worst part of this place is, or do you have to give the school spirit spiel no matter what?"

Well then.

"Even if things get a bit dicey around here, we always get through it," Hanna said simply. "I'll tell you this. I have no supernatural abilities of any kind and I don't have any real fight skills, but I'm still here after a year and a half."

Meaning even the scarier aspects haven't sent her running.

That sounded like the biggest school spirit spiel Gert had ever heard, so she looked approximately as dubious as a person could possibly be as she replied, "Uh-huh."

She'd believe it once she saw it, Hanna.

Hanna just smiled, because Gert would likely see it sooner than later. "I'm in room 425 if you need anything or have more questions."

"229," Gert replied. "Will do."
