Well. As it turned out, traveling across the country with a seven-foot dinosaur in tow was an experience very similar to hell on earth. Not only had Gert been checked by TSA agents roughly forty times throughout the journey, not to mention flight attendants on the plane itself, and not only had she incurred all kinds of additional pet fees (paid for by Captain America and whoever was paying him, but still), but she also had a seriously antsy ~~velociraptor~~ deionychus to deal with. Between that and the expected grouchiness from having been traveling all day, by the time Gert reached the Portalocity lounge in the airport where she was supposed to wait for the Fandom High shuttle, she was not in the best of moods.

The one good thing was that she at least didn't have very much luggage. She stuffed her single backpack under a chair and then flopped down in it, patting the seat beside her for Old Lace to follow suit. Now she just had to hope that whoever was driving this bus showed up punctually, because she was rapidly getting tired of this airport and was about ready to take a nap.

"Apparently," Gert said a little dryly. Suffice it to say that this wouldn't be her first choice of a place to spend time. "Somehow it's the closest school to LA with an open pet-friendly policy."

Well. Dinosaur-friendly.

"You too?"

"Second half of junior year," Bay nodded, trying to sound hard-bitten and mostly failing. "L.A., wow ... somehow I suspect there's an SFX joke in here about the dinosaur, but I can't think of it."

"She's more realistic than the ones in ~~meta for~~ Jurassic Park?" Gert offered, then admitted, "That sounded a little cliche."

"We can work on it," Bay offered. "Like ... okay, there have to be dinosaur movies besides that and ~~meta~~ Land of the Lost, right?"

"~~Meta~~ The Land Before Time," Gert offered. "Those are a little more cutesy, though."

She was totally lying. She loved those movies.

"With the baby dinosaur trying to find its mom?" Bay asked, and shot a glance to Old Lace. "I'm .... really hoping that one's full grown and not a baby. I don't want to see the mom if it's a baby."

"She's normal-sized," Gert promised. "I think. She was like this when I met her, anyway."

"How long have you had her?" Bay asked. "And what does she even eat, anyhow?"

"Few months," Gert replied, then paused before tackling the second question. "You're not squeamish or a vegan or anything, are you?"

There was a reason she didn't generally pick Karolina as the one to take Old Lace out for feedings.

"I am way not squeamish," Bay said, shaking her head. "I have a vegetarian .... sister-type thing" -- look, there was no easy single word to call Daphne -- "but she hasn't converted the rest of us yet."

"Yeah, I spent the past few months living with one," Gert replied. "It was pretty annoying to have to vary the burger orders." Because In-N-Out Burger took up the better part of what only the most generous people would call a 'budget,' really. "Anyway, Old Lace mostly eats foxes and mountain lions up in Benedict Canyon."

The East Coast at least had forests, right? There was bound to be some kind of wildlife there...

Bay raised her eyebrows. "I guess that's ... probably better for her than buying out the butcher shop."
