Library, Friday, All Day

It was probably a little mean to get so much enjoyment out of watching your teachers go through a strange week, but Billy had definitely enjoyed the last few days, especially since this weirdness was lasting longer than expected. He knew karma would kick him in the butt eventually, and it seemed like "eventually" was already here, considering the unusually large amount of books needing to be reshelved he'd found upon arriving today. At least he'd be keeping himself busy?

Strictly speaking, Topher was here to research, but that didn't mean he couldn't bring coffee with him. For Billy. Not for himself. He had Mountain Dew for himself.

"Okay, good, I was really hoping it was your day," he said as he poked his head in before making his way inside. "Hi."

"Hi!" Billy said brightly, setting aside the books he was organizing into smaller piles. "Are you here for actual library business?"

"Also coffee delivery and saying hi," Topher said a little sheepishly. "But yeah."

He handed over the coffee he'd brought for Billy, then pulled up a chair to the other side of the desk. "How's your week?"

"Uh, super entertaining?" Billy said, laughing as he took the coffee like it was a precious gift. Ah, caffeine. "All my teachers being teenagers has been really funny. Well, almost all my teachers, but it's probably better that way." Billy wasn't sure how he would have reacted to a teenaged Magneto. "How are you doing?"

"Voluntarily doing research, so possibly crazy," Topher settled on. "Just to be clear, it's okay to research that company our gym teacher comes from, right?"

"Hey, research isn't a bad thing. And I think researching the company our teacher comes from would be fine. I mean," Billy added quickly, remembering who he was talking to, "what are you going to do with what you find out?"

"Definitely not propose opportunities for improvement," Topher promised. "Because, uh, she would murder me, I'm pretty sure."

"And that would be bad," Billy said quickly. "But seriously, is it anything I can help with?"

Topher thought about it for a moment before deciding, "You know what, yeah." He shooed a squirrel away, then scooted his chair closer to the desk. "Okay, you were in gym class on Wednesday, right?"

"Yeah. That was kind of nice. For once, I felt like there wasn't a chance of imminent death," Billy said. "Is this about the woman that was there?"

Hey now, Billy. The chance of imminent death was the best part! What kind of hero were you?

"Her and GLaDOS," Topher said. "I mean, all the adults in town are randomly our age this week, aren't they? And the chick who was there was kind of... also our age."

"She was, yeah," Billy agreed. "I thought maybe she was visiting GLaDOS or something? I mean, I assumed GLaDOS is immune to a lot of Fandom stuff, being an AI and all."

"Yeah, I thought that," Topher admitted, "but Victor always gets screwed with too, doesn't he? And anyway, GLaDOS doesn't seem like she has a ton of friends. I mean, there was those spheres that time, but they were at least AIs, not people. And they both knew who she was, but this lady didn't even recognize her name."

"GLaDOS doesn't seem like she really wants friends. I mean, she's not very friendly to most people." She tolerated Topher though, so Billy was willing to give her some points for that. "Are you trying to figure out what was up with the lady?"

Well, Topher thought she just had her own unique way of bonding with people, but Topher was sorely mistaken in that respect.

In any event, Billy was rewarded for that logic with a snap of Topher's fingers and an approving point in his direction. "Exactly," he confirmed. "Or at least some stuff about the company's CEO and how it was founded and work from there."

He took a moment to size up the library with something like trepidation on his face. Ugh, so many books.

"So... I guess I can use books for that."

"Or," Billy said with a smile, "you can use the internet, since any company that makes cool technology probably has a wide internet presence and people who comment on them, and I'll see what I can find in books?"

"You're the coolest," Topher declared, leaning over the desk for a quick kiss that surprised even him. "Thanks."
