Combat- Tuesday- 2nd period- Class #11

One day Jaina was going confuse the students with the multiple Danger Shop/gym/other locations, but hopefully it wasn't today when they were at the shooting range.

"A few weeks ago we covered blasters," she began. "Today we're going to be working with guns from this planet. Now there's a few big differences between this and a blaster. You have to reload bullets more often, guns jam easier, and there's no helpful stun setting. If you point this at someone, it should only be because you intend to shoot or wound that person. There's also a little problem of kickback. It's not like in the holos; when you shoot one of these, you feel it. Don't be scared of it, because that'll make your shot jerkier, just don't be surprised."

With that, she gave a short demonstration on how to actually use one, mostly so the students could see what she meant with the kickback. "That's what you're going to be doing. You have targets to shoot at, and I expect you to have all the protective gear on this class period. Aim anything at each other, and you will be in detention for the rest of your natural lives."

There was a decent amount of scowling involved, yes, but Anakin did get all his protective gear on quickly enough.
He picked out the sidearm that looked like it had the most stopping power, dutifully picked out a shooting lane, and spent a round getting accustomed to the feel of it.

. . . that, by the second round, he was already thinking of ways that he'd improve on its design? Just went to show that he was his father's son.

This was something Mercy was very good at. And since she'd learned to use her foster father's .444 Marlin, which could be used to hunt elephants... she wasn't much worried about any kick the guns would have.

Alec's aim was good, but the kickback was something he wasn't used to. On top of that, the weight of the gun was entirely new to him, and the position of his arm felt all wrong, and the protective gear was just bizarre, and...

...oh. He was actually pretty decent at this.

Uncomfortable, but decent.

Cade, after a few rounds to get used to the way guns here kicked back, was kind of scary-accurate at projectile weapons.

Even though Goose was accustomed to blasters, his training had included guns, so he had no trouble firing it accurately at the target.

Jessica wasn't a big fan of guns, but as a SHIELD agent, it was something she should probably be passingly familiar with, even if she had natural long-range weapons.

So she took her shots and discovered that she had terrible aim. Just horrible. It was actually embarrassingly bad. Yeesh.
