"Some of you I've seen last weekend, and some of you didn't come along," Kaidan said, sitting down behind the desk. He looked a little distracted. "Either way, I'm sure all of you have some opinion on species different from yourselves - whether it's about how you expect them to be like, or how you know them to be like. I figured today we could just sit down and talk about it for a while."

He scraped his throat. "We've only known of the existence of alien species since... well, around when I was born. At the start we were a little in awe of them, and at the same time, a little afraid. So was I, actually. And then one day, I had... a pretty bad run-in with one, and I realized they're not much different from us any of us. Some of them are good people, some of them are bad. Every species has its quirks, but it's not defined by them."

"Anyway, the floor is yours. Talk about it. Please."

What are your experiences with alien species?

"I ~~handwavily~~ had lunch with a bunch of salarians," Topher offered. Then to Kaidan, "Is it just me or are they by far the coolest aliens you guys have? I mean, with the... being brilliant and not caring about petty stuff and all. Seriously."

Kaidan blinked. "They're one of the Council races, and they've been a great asset to galactic society," he said slowly. "Not sure you can really rank aliens by 'coolest', though."

"Well, you know, they seem really smart," Topher explained earnestly. "And they think and talk really fast, which is awesome, and they don't have to wear armor that looks like it weighs a bazillion pounds like those other guys, and I didn't notice any of them stripping or anything. Can they do any of that cool blue magic stuff, though? I was wondering."

"Every species brings something to the table," Kaidan said slowly. "The salarians bring scientific knowledge, yes, but the turians provide military support, and the asari are famous diplomats."

"...so is that a no?"

Kaidan sighed. "That's a sit down, Topher."

"Well, Asari are really good dancers..." Ace might have wandered into entirely the wrong club.

She should probably have something deeper to say than that. Considering all the alien species she'd met -- if not on Iceworld, where most alien species were, by virtue of being the type of people who'd voluntarily come to Iceworld in the first place, annoying -- at least during the field trip, yeah?

"The freckles don't go all the way down."

Ace might have wandered into entirely the wrong club and stayed there most of the weekend. As you do. For science.

"Uh."

That seemed pretty fitting, didn't it?

"Thanks for sharing."

You have a dirty mind, sir. All Ace did was watch one dance.

Well, maybe a couple.

Sometimes she sat forward and sometimes she leaned back, but it was still just watching.

"Might not be all of 'em?" Ace felt obliged to add with a slightly defensive shrug. "It wasn't a huge research sample."

Who's probably been tinkering all week.

Tinkering was a good word for it, yes!
