"Helllloooo, Constable Fraser," Parker sang. "Anything I can help you find?"

"Good morning, Miss Parker," Fraser says, turning from the shelf of books. "And yes, you might be able to assist me. I'm actually looking for a book or books on unusual phenomena in the vein of vampires and other such oddities. I feel I'd better prepare myself rather than be caught off guard."

Parker sobered immediately, and said, "We have general knowledge on vampires in mythology and legends; more specific knowledge, about individual vampires, is available in Special Collections, if you want to do some research there." She looked up the number and said, "398.21. Do you want to go into SC?" She bit her lower lip. "Because I can take you in there, if you need to find a particular book."

"Special Collections?" Fraser frowns. "You make it sound dangerous."

"It is." Parker waved a hand at the double-glazed doors on the other side of the library. "It's-- kind of alive, I guess. Even more than the rest of the library. It seems to overlap other libraries in other places, so it's very easy to get lost, and if the Library's annoyed at you, Special Collections will move things around, or worse, send things after you. Logan and Xander got lost in there over break and ran into a dragon." She dimpled. "However, if you need a native guide, the Library likes all the assistants, and if you've got a good reason, Special Collections won't be too unreasonable to you."

Fraser glances at the doors she's gesture towards and frowns.

"A supposedly inanimate object is alive?" He shakes his head and laughs. "Now I feel I need a book about the library and it's sentient books. I'm guessing you've been in there before?"

Parker grinned. "Several times. It's not always an adventure, but meeting crazy monks and having the floor fall out from under you does mean I treat it with respect." She shrugged. "Sadly, if there's a book on Special Collections, we haven't found it. ALthough we've been writing an informal guide for the Library Aides who come after us." She sobered. "Anyway, there's different kinds of vampires; and with the different worlds people here are from, it's hard to know which ones you're encountering. Rory's puppy is really different from Angel, for one."

"This is all very interesting," Fraser says, "and while Special Collections sounds like something I'd like to look into, for today, I think I'll just borrow some generic books on the topic. I'm not quite sure if I'm prepared for a room that's alive."

Parker smiled. "This way, then," she said, leading him over to the stacks, and pulling down five different books about vampires. "The basics," she said, giving them to him. "And I'd offer a sleeping pill afterwards if I thought you'd take it. It's the kind of sttuff that can keep you up nights."

"Thank you," he says, glancing at covers of the books. "I don't think a sleeping pill would be necessary. The past radio broadcasts about students going after vampires was able to keep me up. I doubt books will."

"Oh." Parkers do not feel guilt. Nope. "Let's just those checked out, shall we?"

"Very well," Fraser says and follows her to the counter. "I talked to one of the students about that night and she told me everyone was fine. I was very glad to hear that."

"Everyone that was involved seems to be okay now." Parker resisted rubbing the now-healed scratches on her chin and she checked out his books. "A couple close calls, I guess. But they managed to take out several vampires on the hunt."

"Hm." Fraser nods quietly. "Quite an endeavor for students to take on."

"Well, it was important." Parker frowned. "And Tex and her troopers weren't doing anything then. And the administration wasn't telling us anything. I had four friends get hurt or scared in two weeks, damnit." She glared at Fraser, then rolled her eyes at herself. Way to out yourself, Parker. "We were as careful as we could be. Really."

"I assumed as much, Miss Parker," Fraser says, nodding. "I wouldn't think students who have dealt with zombies and other unique issues would allow themselves to attempt anything while unprotected. I told the other student involved in this that I wouldn't be doing anything. I just wanted to know if everyone was all right."

Parker sighed. "Five people injured, only one seriously, and I think she's part super-hero, because she's fine now after having her lung collapse. The other five of us just got mental trauma. Or I should say four of us. Molly's completely fine." Parker handed him his books, and quietly said, "Thanks. We're okay. I'll tell them you asked. And if Darla stays in jail, and Crazy Squid Lady stays in hiding, maybe we won't have to do that twice."

"Thank you," Fraser says. "Honestly, I bet your group did better than I would've done at handling such a thing. Good job."

Parker's smile became more genuine. "Thanks. It helps to have a resident expert on the attacking team. Angel would have gone by himself if we hadn't whapped him over the head repeatedly to talk him out of it." She shrugged. "I don't know, you might have done better than Echolls or Mitchell. At least I assume you have more hand-to-hand combat experience than they do."

"Well, I wasn't there but your group seems to have done well enough. I'm glad you all came back safe," Fraser says, smiling. "Next time, though, let at least one authority figurek now what you're planning in case something does happen."

"Yes, Constable." Parker saluted him. "We'll inform all proper authorities. And a few of the improper ones."

Fraser doesn't want to grin but he can't help it.

"Very well. Thank you for your help once again and I do hope you have a good day."
