Mad Science & You: Week 8 (Tuesday, Period 3)
This week, the Danger Shop was set up to look like a mid-sized Japanese city. Judging by the fashions of the simulated people passing by on the streets, it seemed to be set sometime in the 70s.
Prof Tomoe waited in front of an open park for everyone to arrive. The students might have noticed that their teacher was somewhat less energetic than usual. And that his coffee cup was twice the size of most weeks.
"I was detained elsewhere last week," he said, "so I hope you had a decent class in my absence. Since I was in Japan, I thought we'd take a look at another notable Japanese mad scientist this week."
He took a long dreg of coffee before continuing. "Japan has been the target of multiple secret alien invasions--" Not that he'd know aaaaaaanything about that. "--but in the late 70s, it was an attempted invasion by the Iron Cross Army, as led by their supreme commander, Professor Monster."
Seriously, their leader's name is Professor Monster. Three guesses on whether he's a good or evil mad scientist.
"The Iron Cross Army's general plan of invasion was to send down Machine BEMs, monsters which could be grown to enormous sizes, to terrorize the population and decimate cities. Unfortunately, most of their monsters were destroyed by an annoying costumed superhero named Kumo-Otoko, which would translate to 'Arachnid-Fellow', or something like that.
"For today's class, you're going to make your own Machine BEMs." He pointed to a picnic table in the park with tubs of clay sitting on it. "So, sculpt a monster out of clay, and we'll fill it with evil energy and let it stomp around the town. Hopefully Kumo-Otoko won't show up to destroy it."
He let out a half-hearted evil laugh before sitting down on a park bench, cup of coffee still in hand. "I'll be over here if you need anything."

Leave a note if you'd actually like Kumo-Otoko to show up to fight it.
