Once you got past the sign and into the classroom setup for the day, what you'd find would actually be very minimalistic compared to the chamber layout from the midterm: just a large, open rectangular room with a sunken pit in its center.

A sunken pit with shiny blue goop spread all over its floor, to be specific.

"Well, you're back." GLaDOS was really hitting the bored, unimpressed note hard. "All of you, it looks like -- congratulations. No, not on surviving a week off. On remembering how to get here after a week off. That's about all I can reasonably expect out of you right now, though, so this week's test will be fairly easy. See that big open space over there? A brief clip of chirping cricket sounds played, then cut off abruptly.

The blue goop in the pit is repulsion gel. Drop something on it, or jump on it, and you'll basically bounce as if you were on a trampoline.

The difference is that a trampoline doesn't actually make this kind of sproing sound effect.

Yes, the floor beneath the gel will hold portals, in case you want to try to use the repulsion gel to find new applications for the law of conservation of momentum through portals.

Korra may have been trying to bend the goop, just to see if she could.

Topher had been concerned that the goop was a pool. He didn't do well with pools. Fortunately, it was no such thing, and he just wound up shrieking every time he bounced. Much better.

Ace had been kind of hoping the goop was a pool, because she missed the one from her villa.

However, bouncing? TOTALLY EEE AN EEEE ACCEPT EEEE ABLE EEEE SUBSTI EEEE TUTE!

The gel will wash right off. Yes, it's the consistency of pudding.
