"Pop quiz time," Anakin said, holding up a stack of papers. "Please take this test and then we'll compare our results to the national average. Let's see how ethical Fandom is in comparison to the rest of the country."

Not counting certain Republican presidential candidates...Anakin'd had to turn off his cell phone so that Rory's (irate, but amusing) texts wouldn't interrupt class this morning.

Yeah, that sounded about right. Sparkle and his own cynicism were sitting there completely unsurprised.

"Only eight percent are successful. Or, like, one. What is it all those Occupy people go on about, we're the 99%?" He shrugged. "Rose-coloured glasses keeping people down. They think the world should be fair, but they're not prepared to screw everyone else over to get to the top themselves."

"And then are absolutely shocked when they go nowhere," Anakin said, rolling his eyes.

Quite the inspiring ethics teacher, Anakin.

"Well, naturally," Sparkle replied, a little smirk crossing his lips. "They were taught to be ethical, weren't they?"

This was laughably not true.

"Yeah, I'll believe that one when I see it," Sparkle replied, still smirking.

Look, Anakin, he'd met Cade and Atton. So far as he could tell, your dimension was kind of like this one, but with bigger explosions and slightly more frustrating card games.

Sparkle... didn't look entirely convinced about that. His inner cynic was a toughie, Anakin.

"You have any examples of that?"

"The extremely evil man who'd been running the galaxy got killed and there's now a democracy in its place?" Anakin tried. "There have been many fewer deaths because of someone being annoyed in the last decade."

And Anakin had moved here, which helped too.

"So, what you're saying," Sparkle said slowly, trying to make certain that he was grasping this, "is that successful people are the ones who tend to wind up dead?"

It was... a special sort of logic.

Anakin thought about it, frowned, then tilted his head. "Well, everyone ends up dead eventually?"

He was not intending to make this easy for Anakin, no.
