Club Fair, Gym, Friday Afternoon

Jackson got to the gym early. He took his mission of establishing a sports team in Fandom pretty seriously, see. That involved making something of an effort, and showing up early to check out the competition (yes, he viewed the other clubs as competition, deal with it) was the least he could do.

He grabbed a copy of the club schedule for himself before he went to set up his table.

Karolina noticed that! Eventually.

And once she had, she gave Liara a little wave, before wandering over to her table. "Hi! I didn't know you were going to be running a club."

"Neither did I," Liara admitted. "I merely thought I would propose the idea to the school... and now here I am."

Karolina chuckled a little. "That kind of sounds like how things happen here," she had to admit. "You propose it, you run it. Are you looking forward to it, at least?"

"I was afraid I would be a disappointment," Liara admitted. "My heart is not in the hard sciences. But the others seem to have that well in hand, which comes as something of a relief."

"There are lines like that between different kinds of science?" Karolina asked, because... science had never been that close to her heart, to be honest. "But, it's good if you still feel you fit in. Maybe you can, I don't know, bring in a different point of view?"

"But it's still a kind of science, right?" Karolina replied. "And I don't think it says what kind of science it's supposed to be anywhere on your club table."

Liara nodded, and rubbed at her arm. "I know," she said, smiling a little. "I am just having trouble getting used to the idea."

Karolina gave her a reassuring smile. "You'll get there," she said, and of this she was sure. "Once the club gets going, if not sooner. It's not going to be a big deal for long."

"I don't suppose I could interest you in joining the science club," Liara said, half... yes, sort of joking.

Karolina hesitated a little, then laughed and looked wryly apologetic.

"I'm not really good with science," she said. "I mean, of any kind."

"That's a shame," Liara said, which she did mean. "Are you interested in joining any of the clubs at all?"

She chewed on her lip. "Well, the Pajama Club sounds kind of neat?"

There was another one of those glances towards the Pride table, though.

A glance which Liara fundamentally missed, not least of all because she had no idea what Pride was. "Ah," she said, glancing towards the Pajama Club instead. "So you... enjoy pajamas?"

"It sounds fun," Karolina said, a little lamely. "It sounds, I don't know. Girly? Girly and nice."

Liara nodded. "I am not terribly good at socializing," she admitted, "But I can see how girly and nice would be appealing." Beat. "Especially the nice part."

"Definitely," Karolina said, with a little nod of her own. "I mean, I was kind of considering, um, Pride as well but Pajama Club just sounds nice, so I'll probably go with that. I don't know if I want more than one extracurricular."

"You do not want to stress yourself," Liara agreed. She sounded mildly confused. "What is Pride? I have seen the stand, but I do not quite understand what kind of pride it is meant to engender."

"It's like..." She hesitated, choosing her words. "For different, um, orientations? Like... sexual orientations. Minorities."

And yes, it was now occurring to her that these terms might not necessarily make sense to Liara.

Karolina's lips twisted as she tied to decide where to start. Except she found she really wasn't sure.

"Which part is it that you don't get?"

"It has... something to do with sex?" Liara attempted. "I am sorry. I am not entirely sure what a sexual orientation is."
