Yakko's World, Thursday, Period 2
Yakko was accompanied by a large globe to start class today. He was also accompanied by the Mexican Hat Dance music.
"To find today's topic
We spin the globe around
Where will my pointer stick?
Somewhere on solid ground
The globe it slowly stops
Close to the United States
And now the pointer drops
Today is one of the greats!"
As Yakko's pointer hit a spot in north-central Mexico, the globe split in two, letting a whole bunch of chihuahua pups free as the music sped up.
"Today we study Chihuahua
The dog-loving Mexican state
It seemed thematically acceptable
Hug a puppy, it feels great!"
Yakko hugged a puppy. It did, in fact, feel great.
"For anyone who doesn't know, Mexico is the very big country here," Yakko said, pulling a map down at the board and pointing at Mexico. "Right below the US. Its major exports include cars, whatever Americans and Canadians will buy from them, and controversy in some American states about immigration. Its main imports include whatever they can buy from the US and Canada, tourists going to resorts, and college students on a bender."
"The state of Chihuahua borders the American states of Texas and New Mexico. It has a mountain range called the Sierra Madre Occidental, which is really just an extension of the Rockies. But it has Copper Canyon, which is bigger and deeper than the Grand Canyon."
"But most importantly, it's where these guys were first found, back in 1850. And they were so adorable, they were named after the whole state. Look at him and tell him he's not adorable," Yakko said, holding the puppy up for people to look at. "Look at him."
"And now that you're even more distracted by the puppies than you were before, you have to spend the rest of the period playing with them and taking care of them." Yakko stepped over to his desk, opened a drawer, and pulled out a claw-foot bathtub pre-filled with soapy water before dropping it on the floor with a minimum of splashing. "Because it's bath time! They'll probably yip at you when you're cleaning them. Don't worry, that's natural."
