Ethics [Tuesday, September 11, 2012, 1st period]

Ethics class had been told to meet in the Danger Shop this morning, and when they arrived, they found themselves in groups of three or four floating in dingies in the middle of a seemingly endless stretch of water. They couldn't see any of their classmates who weren't in the boat with them.

Anakin's voice came over the speaker system: "There is no land for hundreds of kilometers, no fresh water, and you've run out of food. The only resources you have are the other people you have in the boat and any powers you and they might possess. Will you turn to cannibalism? If so, who will be the first to go?"

Hope you weren't hungry for breakfast, class.

"If you'd prefer not to participate in this class, shake your head strongly and you will be taken out of the simulation," Anakin added.

With that the students were left to their own devices.

Well. This teacher certainly didn't mess around.

"I'd like to suggest we don't start with eating one another," Alec proposed after a moment.

"Not gonna a problem," Korra replied, digging around in her pockets for a line. "Water tribe. I learnt how to fish practically as soon as I could walk."

Of course it would be even less of a problem if she still had her water bending, not that she was trying to think about that.

Anakin shut his eyes and reached out in the Force for a moment, then nodded. "I can get a pretty good idea of where we can fish," he put in. "I might be able to lure them closer, too."

He wasn't Jacen (thank the Force) and didn't have his brother's gift with living creatures, but he was pretty confident that he could at least give it a try.

Atton gave Anakin some serious side-eye, but he didn't say anything.

"Yeah, sure," he said, "Let's go fishing. And then what? We start paddling?"

"I guess." Alec's scowl, it was intense. "Who even knows if he programmed actual land for us to get to?"

Alec, don't sulk.

Bucky Katt, Chaz Villette, Jessica Drew & Matt Murdock, this is you!

"I'm anti-eating people." Chaz said quickly. "Does anyone have any useful skills for being in the middle of the water?"

"Not all of us in this boat are people," Jessica pointed out. She wasn't suggesting eating a classmate, but It wouldn't technically be cannibalism.

Chaz took a very long minute to consider this. "I'm anti-eating anyone who's capable of higher level thought?" He tried again.

"Then let's start by eating her!" Bucky pouted. "...Or, we could just wait until class is over and get some normal food."

Jim Kirk, Marasiah Fel, & Minako Aino, hello!

Jim was in a boat with two other girls. Maybe he should have been focusing on the task at hand but he was just gonna sit back and gloat quietly about being in a pretend boat with two other girls.

"I'm not eating anyone," Sia said right off the bat. "We're going to have to find a way to catch fish."

"I don't have any powers," Jim confessed, shrugging. "I mean, I can try and catch something with my bare hands but I doubt that's gonna work. Fish are slippery."

Because they lived in water. Jim wasn't above a bad joke or fifty.

Miriam Black, Peeta Mellark, & Sholeh Zeela a Zhahar, you're the next contestants on "who do you eat?"

=Too bad we didn't end up on the boat with that obnoxious cat,= Zeela snarked. =That would have made this decision a lot easier.=

"We are not eating anyone!" Sholeh said sharply, then glanced around in chagrin. Maybe her teammates would assume she'd been talking to them?

Sparkle, Stannis Baratheon, and Ulrik of Denmark, this boat's for you!

Sweet. Sparkle had a boat! ... Well, he had a boat with his roommate and Stannis, but. You know. Boat.

"I'm guessing neither of you knows how to like sing fish to the water's surface or anything, huh?"

"I do not, no," Ulrik offered, somewhat apologetically.

"Well, that's a shame," Sparkle replied, considering Ulrik for a moment. And then leaning over, totally intending to gnaw on his shoulder a little.

You know, friendly gnawing. They were dying at sea, nobody could blame him!

After class, if you'd like.

Couldn't figure out my pounding headache, then remembered the date.
