Cassidy was quite aware of all of the heightened emotions that she was picking up from the psychic scents of people as she got ready for the day and headed to the library. She could, perhaps, knock on the doors of the most upset ones to see if they needed anything, but that might be considered as being nosy or prying and she didn't want to upset anyone.

So, against all of her urges to help, she forced herself to continue to the library, hoping that perhaps if soemone needed help, they would seek her and the library out.

When she got there, she found an inordinate amount of books on being a girl waiting for her on the tables.

"Oh," she sighed, shaking her head. "It must be that weekend, again."

She hoped Loki and Evan were all right...

As you do. The library has even tried to be helpful to the guys waking up as girls today.

She would be happy to give advice and help with the shock of guys suddenly being girls.

"Why do I still not possess eyebrows?" Loki was whining, yes. It was a thing.

Cassidy looked up at him from where she was trying to hide the most unhelpful books.

"I... I'm not sure. Does Fandom just have an issue with giving you eyebrows? That's wrong of it."

"Every time I have been female!"

Even as an adult. But that had been Lady Sif's body, so...

"Even for Fandom that's bothersome," she said, shaking her head. "I could do a sight spell and make it look like you have eyebrows if you would like me to?"

It was better than the two of them trying to do that travesty Cassidy had recently seen that was known as drawing the eyebrows on.

"I have attempted that as well," Loki said with a sigh. He flopped dramatically against the library counter. "I think perhaps it is to do with my Frost Giant lineage."

Cassidy called in some of her tea and pastries and offered them to Loki. "Do Frost Giants not have eyebrows?"

"They are a savage race," Loki said, taking a cookie. "Violent and even more uncouth than those of Midgard."

"They cannot be all bad for if they are of your lineage, then that means they gave me my BFF."

See how loyal Cassidy was, Loki?

She was the best ever!

"They are large and blue," he added. "I do not recall much more. I am certain Ikol would be able to add if he was not in hiding over being a female magpie."

"Poor Ikol," she said sympathetically. "Do you think he would like some cookies?"

"He should take this time to enjoy his new form." Loki was a cruel master. "It will be enlightening."

Cassidy grinned at him. "He might learn something new from this?"

"Indeed he may!"

Evan looked... maybe slightly scandalized as he walked into the library today.

Slightly scandalized, and... pretty much exactly the same as usual, though there was a definite shift in his psychic scent from male to female, should anyone care to go sniffing about.

"So, the island is weird," he greeted, wide-eyed as he caught sight of the books on the tables. "Did you know that? The island? Weird?"

Because he'd been warned, but most of the weirdness still hadn't compared to the stuff that went on at his last school, until this morning when he'd woken up, er, slightly more effeminate than he was used to.

Cassidy blinked, noticing the shift in psychic scents.

"Evan?"

She nodded sympathetically and called in more tea and pastries. "It is definitely not the normal kind of place."

"I was a girl," Evan replied, because that answered that question, right? Didn't it? "I mean, when I woke up this morning? I was a girl."

Oh. Tea. Tea seemed really good right about now. Probably moreso if he found out that, at least essentially, he kind of sort of still was, no matter what his body looked like.

"Not that there's anything the matter with being a girl. I mean, plenty of people are girls for their whole lives and they deal with it just fine! Right?" He looked to Cassidy for clarification. After all, she seemed like the sort of person who would know the answer to that one. "... I'm just really not used to that sort of thing."

It was entirely possible that this morning when he'd woken up had been the first time he'd seen a naked female body in his life.

"Being a girl isn't so bad if you have been that way all of your life and you're used to it," Cassidy said with sympathy in her voice as she handed him a cup of tea. "However, it can be quite a shock to wake up as a girl when you are usually a male."

She gave him a small, encouraging smile as she passed him a muffin as well. "The good news is that it usually just lasts a couple of days here and by Monday you should be a male again."

Oh, beautiful muffin. Evan was going to cradle you to his chest and continue looking at Cassidy with big, wide eyes.

"Promise?"

A beat.

And then he was looking down again.

"... Wait, I'm still a girl?"

Your shapeshifting mutant power was fooling nobody from Kaeleer with a Jewel and a nose, boyo.

"I promise. Fandom does this at least once a year that I have seen."

Cassidy nodded. "You may not seem so on the outside to everyone else, but my Craft lets me pick up on the differences between you and the female you that you're trying to disguise."

She was not going to try to explain psychic scents to him right now because he was already freaked out enough about this.

Evan was deciding here and now that Cassidy's Craft was mean.

Mean, mean craft!

"Oh..." He wrinkled his nose a little as he picked at his muffin. "So I'm kind of just guy-shaped right now, and that's about it? This island is thorough when it decides it's going to try to mess with a person, I guess."

But her Craft would also potentially keep her alive, Evan!

"Yes, the island tends to be very thorough when it decides to pull these shenanigans."

... Well, alive was probably a good thing, then. Evan couldn't argue with the narrative's logic, there.

"Why does it do this at all?" He wasn't whining. Honest. "I mean, I can do something about the weird shape, but if I couldn't I wouldn't have even had clothes that fit."

Because somebody got comic book woman proportions when he was a lady, yes.

"But you have friends here who can sew or pull things together quickly," she assured him. "I certainly would have helped and when things like this happen, the students who are normally girls pitch in to help the guys who woke up with the wrong proportions. Just like the males do when the girls wake up as boys."

"Yeah, but if I still looked like I did when I woke up this morning and I had nothing to wear, I wouldn't have left my room."

Because there was no way he was going to go out there topless. Nuh-uh. Not in a million years.

"Should I start collecting spare clothes for when the girls turn into boys, though? I can do that. I'm kind of smaller than most of the guys in the school but maybe that will come in handy, in case there are some small... girl... guys?"

What was the word for that, anyhow?

"Then I would have come looking for you after my shift here was done," Cassidy said firmly. "And I'm sure that the girls would appreciate you having done that when the time comes where the island changes them."

"Well... I'll start collecting guy clothes, then," Evan decided, smiling a little. "Especially winter coats and things, since that's on the way, too."

He fidgeted a little.

"I probably would have hidden under the covers if you had come to visit, though."

Because comic book proportions. He was fifteen! WHY. WHYYY?
