Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part III

There were some extra tables set up in the shade of the trees on the lawn, away from the buffet in spots where it might be less crowded and much quieter. If you wanted to get away from the crowd, or stake out a spot to talk to folks, these spots would be where to go!

"Well, I mean, my friends kind of have a grudge against him, but he's still basically a good guy," Victor said, equally surprised. "There's a world where he's an ass?"

"He's still Captain America and that's amazing," Jessica said. "But you never want to read interviews with him. It completely shatters the mystique. And he really has weird issues with France."

"Sounds like how my friend Molly got way less interested in Wolverine after she met him," Victor commiserated, wrinkling his nose. "I mean, it wasn't shocking, he was just kind of a douche and smelled weird."

"At least that's consistent," Jessica said. "I met him in the mall once." More or less. "The second he walked in, you could smell him from the food court."

"What's with that?" Victor asked rhetorically. "Is it a mutant thing, does he just not have time to shower, or does he think it ruins the mystique?"

Seriously. His team had lived under La Brea for months and they still all managed not to reek.

"I don't know and I really don't want to know," Jessica said. "But when he chooses a hair style like that, you just have to assume all of his hygiene decisions are going to be insane."

Victor actually didn't think Wolverine's hair was that bad, but this was a girl telling him this and he knew better than to argue with girls about grooming decisions. He snickered.

"Where are you from before this, anyhow?" he asked. "Other than 'a world where there's still Wolverine, and he still smells funky.'"

"New York," Jessica said. "Home of pretty much all the superhero fights ever. Well, 90% of them."

"I'm from L.A," Victor said. "Home of ... maybe .5 percent. Tops. I always wanted to move to New York, when I was younger."

"It's not bad except for the constant destruction and insurance rates," Jessica said. "But maybe that's just my New York."

"I think it's every New York," Victor answered, with a little shrug. "I was always really into superheroes, so I wanted to be in the center of things. I guess I figured a wrecked apartment wasn't that big a deal."

"Just as long as you never have anything nice, it's fine," Jessica said. "I actually had an apartment get blown up a few months ago. Nobody was hurt, and we didn't lose anything important. And hey, I have a story for the rest of my life. Not a story with any details since I wasn't there, but still."

"Wow, sorry," Victor winced. "Did somebody blow it up for a reason, or was it just kind of in the wrong place?"

"Wrong place," Jessica said. "I never really found out what happened either. The attacks were on the news, but there was a big SHIELD thing. So... yeah. No clue."
