Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I

Although the summer had been record-breakingly hot, the weather outside today was actually kind of pleasant. There was a cool breeze blowing across the lawn, making the smells of the buffet wander, and hopefully enticing people to come over to the school and welcome all the new folks.

The blue and gold tables and chairs had been set out as usual, along with nametags and the lists of Big and Little Siblings, and rooms and roommates for the new students. Assuming the shuttle arrived with all of the students and teachers in one piece, everything was set for the picnic to begin!

[OCD is up, have at it! This is part one of the picnic, specifically for meeting siblings, roommates, and teachers. The rest of the picnic is happening here and here, in an effort to keep browsers from breaking for as long as possible. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

"Yeah." Chaz said, trying to stop spazzing out. Naga would be easier. Naga wasn't a pretty girl. "I'm Charles - Chaz. So we're roommates. I guess. Unless there's another Korra around here?"

Naga also took up a lot more space than Korra. "Just me that I'm aware of. So I guess we are roommates."

Chaz had shared a room with five other people before. Space he was fine with. Pretty girl caused flailing, spazzing, and testing human combustion theories.

"I uh, uh, can put up a sheet? On a string? They did that in uh, It Occured One Evening. To share a room. I don't snore." He blurted the last one out.

"Uh, I guess..." Korra hadn't really done the roommate thing before, so it wasn't like she had any idea how it worked.

Chaz blinked. "You're fine with rooming with a boy?" Somehow, he had figured she'd have more problems with it than he did.

She might have if she'd been having a normal few weeks, but really the idea was the least unusual parts of all this. "Well, you don't look like you're planning anything weird," she said. "Plus I have Naga if you are."

Chaz blinked rapidly. "Naga is your pet...?" He guessed.

"Polar bear dog," Korra supplied helpfully. "She's around here somewhere."

There was only so much flailing Chaz's brain could do. "Polar bear dog?" He checked weakly.

"Yeah, hang on a second." Korra brought two fingers to her mouth and whistled, which brought Naga bounding over like a puppy. A very, very large puppy.

Chaz's brain went a bit offline for a few seconds and then helpfully provided him with Naga's weight and size.

"Hi boy." He said weakly and offered the polar bear dog thing a hand to sniff, desperately hoping that the dog part of that would win. Maybe she just meant the polar bear part in relation to the size.

"Don't worry, she's tame," Korra assured him as Naga licked the offered hand.

Unlike any other polar bear dogs that might happen to show up.

"Oh that's good." Chaz said, still not quite managing to get a full volume out of his voice. He did give the dog a good scritch behind the ears.
