Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I

Although the summer had been record-breakingly hot, the weather outside today was actually kind of pleasant. There was a cool breeze blowing across the lawn, making the smells of the buffet wander, and hopefully enticing people to come over to the school and welcome all the new folks.

The blue and gold tables and chairs had been set out as usual, along with nametags and the lists of Big and Little Siblings, and rooms and roommates for the new students. Assuming the shuttle arrived with all of the students and teachers in one piece, everything was set for the picnic to begin!

[OCD is up, have at it! This is part one of the picnic, specifically for meeting siblings, roommates, and teachers. The rest of the picnic is happening here and here, in an effort to keep browsers from breaking for as long as possible. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

"Animal transformations I have seen, yes. Well one kind of animal." Is it weird that he didn't care if someone thought he was crazy anymore? "And something tells me I'm about to believe in alternate realities."

"If you don't believe me now, you will inside of a week," Sia told him. "I thought you'd be more surprised by this, to be honest."

"I'm from a strange place," Stiles said with a shrug. "Guess you hit the jackpot in terms of a little sibling."

"I'm all right with that," she smiled. "I don't suppose you have gremlins, do you? You'll hear about them a lot, and I don't want to fail in my duty by not warning you."

"No, no gremlins. Not yet at least," he said. "Are they like the ones from the movies? Should I not feed strange animals after midnight?"

Sia paused. "I have no idea what that means," she admitted. "They're small green creatures whose venom causes hallucinations. You believe yourself to be something horribly embarrassing, apparently usually in public. Try to avoid them whenever possible."

"I'm embarrassing on my own, I don't need help in that department," Stiles said, mildly horrified at the prospect. "Anything else out to get me?"

"Not specifically. Though you will occasionally turn into something else, such as... well, a pony," she said, still preferring that over talking about being a cat, "though in most cases at least the rest of the island will go through it with you."

"That's...comforting," Stiles admitted. "None of it is permanent, right?"

Look, he refused a bite from an Alpha, he was big on the remaining human thing.

"No. In my experience it lasts a weekend and then it's over," she said. "And then the entire island can share the mutual embarrassment. It takes a bit of adjustment."

"Sounds like it," Stiles said. "You know, the school should really think about including that sort of stuff in the brochure."

"Would you have come here if they did?" Sia asked.

"Probably," he admitted. "I'm pretty sure I'm a magnet for the strange and unusual, it would follow me no matter where I go."

Then here was a really good place for him. "What kind of strange are you used to?"

Stiles took in a deep breath and quickly debated on if this would be breaking some ancient werewolf rule that Derek would kick his ass for.

And then he reminded himself he didn't give a crap about Derek or his silly Alpha rules.

"Would you think I was crazy if I said werewolves?"

"After being here? Not at all," she replied.

"Oh good," Stiles said, sounding relieved. "I'm not a werewolf, for the record. I mean some guy offered but I declined."

"Good for you," she said. "Though I'm sure it'd be perfectly fine if you were." Sia tried not to be discriminatory unless it was against Sith.

"Oh yeah, it's totally fine, my best friend is one." Scott was so gonna hate it when he came here and everyone knew what he was. "It just wasn't for me, you know? I like to spend my full moons sleeping, not wandering through the woods killing small animals."

Sia pressed her lips together, trying not to smile at the phrasing. "I'd make the same decision. There are much better ways to spend that time."
