Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I

Although the summer had been record-breakingly hot, the weather outside today was actually kind of pleasant. There was a cool breeze blowing across the lawn, making the smells of the buffet wander, and hopefully enticing people to come over to the school and welcome all the new folks.

The blue and gold tables and chairs had been set out as usual, along with nametags and the lists of Big and Little Siblings, and rooms and roommates for the new students. Assuming the shuttle arrived with all of the students and teachers in one piece, everything was set for the picnic to begin!

[OCD is up, have at it! This is part one of the picnic, specifically for meeting siblings, roommates, and teachers. The rest of the picnic is happening here and here, in an effort to keep browsers from breaking for as long as possible. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

"Nope." Which was good, because April would be shitty in a situation like that. Like, really shitty. "I had leaves stuck in my hair when we first got here, though."

Jono was squinting a little and trying to puzzle that one out, yes.

"... Did you find a way to put the top down, or something?"

On the bus?

"Open window."

Duh, Jono. God.

"There should be convertible buses."

"If there were, you'd have students flying out of them into the street every time you hit a bump in the road," Jono pointed out.

And then tilted his head a little. Huh.

"There should be convertible buses."

She pointed at him. "Exactly." See, it was a strategic thing, really. Or population control. "Best lesson on seat belt safety there is."

".... Do buses even have seatbelts?"

No. No, they did not.

April considered that. "No idea."

In that case, it was possibly even more of a lesson on seat belt safety!

"Hm. Well, they really ought to, if they keep getting Fandom High staff to drive them."

He'd met the staff, thank you.

"They really should," April agreed. "I think Deadpool's done it a few times."

So... yes.

"Fairly certain," Jono agreed. "And Skywalker. If he drives anything like he does everything else, it's a wonder the students don't shite themselves on the way here every semester."

"Maybe they do." That would be amusing. "Pre-picnic torture."

Amusing, and nasty. Jono was smirking anyhow, though. Sometimes, being immature was just the best thing for it.

"Between that and flying out of the back of the bus, it's a wonder we get any new students here at all."

"It should mean the ones who do show up are tough, though," she mused. "Good or bad thing?"

"Depends on how badly you were hoping to make them cry on their first day," Jono decided. "Or whether you were looking for a challenge."

"Well, if they cry, they're getting mocked," April decided. "That's Class Rule #1."

"No crying. I'll have to keep that one in mind, hm?"

Because Jono was such a crier, you see.

"You know the rules," April said. "Only if you wear mascara."

"And I don't think I'd be able to apply that without help. A pity, I suppose I'll have to hold in all of my tears."

He was British. He'd manage, somehow.
