Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I

Although the summer had been record-breakingly hot, the weather outside today was actually kind of pleasant. There was a cool breeze blowing across the lawn, making the smells of the buffet wander, and hopefully enticing people to come over to the school and welcome all the new folks.

The blue and gold tables and chairs had been set out as usual, along with nametags and the lists of Big and Little Siblings, and rooms and roommates for the new students. Assuming the shuttle arrived with all of the students and teachers in one piece, everything was set for the picnic to begin!

[OCD is up, have at it! This is part one of the picnic, specifically for meeting siblings, roommates, and teachers. The rest of the picnic is happening here and here, in an effort to keep browsers from breaking for as long as possible. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

Yeah, Atton was going to take a break from being displeased in order to do a double-take. "Dragons?" he said, "Somebody brought dragons?"

"Someone has dragons. They're actually kind of friendly," Jessica said. "Dany assured me that they're not going to eat anyone. Or at least me. I assume she meant anyone, though."

"Every time I think this island can't get crazier," Atton muttered, "or the people can't get stupider. I'm not sure which one is at fault this time."

"Let's go with crazy. Because I've seen a bunch of things already and all of it is just plain nuts. Maybe a variety of nuts," Jessica mused. "The... thing with the map was a Brazil nut, easily."

"I'm not going to argue with you on that one," Atton said, because 'what is a Brazil nut' was a stupid question. "Look, just keep your stuff on your side of the room and we'll be fine, okay?"

Sort of.

"Not a problem. Dibs on the side by the window," Jessica called.

"Pretty sure they're both by the window," Atton said. "You know. Last time I checked."

Though this was a different room, so there was always the chance the universe would step in and fix that for him.

"Hey, I don't know what the rooms are like. I'm just making it known that if there's only one side with a window, it's mine," Jessica said. "Just curious, do they do co-ed roommates a lot? We're not the weird pair out here, right?"

"Nah, I've seen it happen a few times," Atton said. He shrugged. "But hey, don't worry about it. I'm not going to make a big deal about it. Your virtue's safe with me, and all that stuff."

Because she was what, nine?

One, technically. Or sixteen. It reall depended on how you decided to count.

"Well, aren't you Mr Chivalry?" Jessica teased. "Actually, that does make things a lot less weird. So thank you."

Atton shrugged. "Hey, no reason to make the roommate thing awkward, right?"

Yeah, that was totally the reason.

Also he hoped she wouldn't mind him coming home drunk. You know, repeatedly.
