It had been with several bone-crushing hugs, a lucky rabbit's foot, two trashy books and an iPod that Olive had boarded the plane. If she had to guess, geographically, she had started to really miss her parents and brothers somewhere over Texas. (Texas was huge. She was probably right.) She'd pushed that away and shoved in her earbuds in an attempt to sleep, to no avail.

And...now she was supposed to meet new classmates. Okay. She found the designated loungey area thing -- and holy crap, that glittery sign was like something Marianne would make (so...not a great omen) -- and took a seat. Tempted as she was to retreat into her book and iPod again, she instead only fiddled idly with her phone, looking up every couple minutes to see if anyone relatively her age had come over. She hated being the first one anywhere. Now there was like, this onus on her.

She had maybe just won her Words With Friends game with her mom, as soon as the plane had landed, with "onus." She was pretty proud of that.

Hey, hey, April wasn't terrifying.

She was, however, aggressively apathetic as she held up the stupid yellow and blue sign reading FANDOM HIGH when she showed up to pick up the new students. "Bus is here," she called loudly, before turning around to head back outside to, you know, get in and drive.

...Okay, now it was fair for them to be terrified. She had her license, but most of the driving she'd done up to this point had occurred on lawnmowers in Nordstroms.

Olive eyed the girl warily. Um, okay, she was not that much older than she was, and she was all...yeah, apathetic would be the word.

"Do you have your CDL?" she asked conversationally.

Cade was not remotely thrilled to be here, and it showed in the way he slouched up to the (okay, pretty--he was karking annoyed but not completely stoopa) girl in the lounge with his bag slung over the shoulder of his black duster.

"I don't want to go to school."

Because she looked like she cared.

"What the kark is a bus?" Cade demanded.

"Preaching to the choir," Olive said, looking up from her phone and....well hi there. Hey, he might be dumb, like most of the cute guys at her old school, but she had eyes. "You could always contribute to the United States' rising dropout rate."

April blinked at her like this was such a ridiculous question that it had never occurred to her that someone might be silly enough to ask. "No," she said, with a tone of duh. "Do you?"

"I'm not driving the bus," Olive said slowly. "It doesn't matter if I do."

Oh god, they wanted to talk. More than one of them. This was even worse than just plain teaching was bound to be.

"A vehicle," she said shortly. "It's yellow."

Helpful, right?

Technically, Jessica had never set foot in a school. But here she was, the good little SHIELD agent with her two bags. One with a bunch of normal stuff and one with stuff she didn't even have to get x-rayed because of SHIELD clearance. (There were some perks, fine.)

And now she got to wait for a bus with all of the people who would probably wedgie her and spread vile rumors about her and probably figure out her secret identity while trying to kill her. Look, she had Peter's memories, she remembered high school. ALL TOO WELL. (Okay, the classmates weren't going to try to kill her. The other things, though. Those would happen.)

So, um, don't mind Jessica too much if she was sitting just slightly off to the side, where wedgies were more easily defended against. (Did bullies even give wedgies to girls? Too much to learn.) And she was going to try to keep her mind free of parenthetical thoughts while she was at it. She could do it. Probably. Possibly. Like, 60%.

[OOC: Slow due to work, but I will pick up pings! Slowly! And then at a normal speed once I'm home!]

"Well, no one asked me if I had one when I got stuck with this job." So apparently it didn't matter for her either.

"The where?"

That was probably not helping Olive's impression of how intelligent he was, huh.

"Fandom High?" Olive asked hopefully, noticing the girl off to the side. "If not, ignore me."

That seemed unlikely. Who ignored strangers who spoke to them at an airport? If she was wrong, Olive still stood a good chance that this girl would think she was a terrorist and she'd get cavity searched.

"Like a speeder?" Cade asked.

She missed Caius.

Which was ridiculous as he'd brought her to the airport and left only once they were sure she knew where she was going but Yeul couldn't help but miss him already when she knew that this was more final than a few hours apart.

As she studied the glitter sign that proclaimed her school's name and then looked around at the other people who would be her classmates, Yeul wondered if disagreeing with the idea would have changed things. Possibly. Possibly not.

There was no way to tell and no way to change the past (no way, at least, that she was willing to think about overlong) and so the only way for her now was forward. Yeul took a seat carefully, aware of the fact that between her wardrobe and her hair and her minimal luggage, she stood out a little.

Despite that, and being alone, she found herself quietly pleased. This was new. Entirely so. That was to be enjoyed.

All right, two cute girls. It still wasn't making the trip entirely worth it.

Cade raised his hand most of the way up in a sort-of wave.

"...my new school is cool with playing fast and loose with the rules of the road and education-based law. Huh," Olive noted. "What, did they just eenie-meenie-minie-moe you into this?"

"...the country you are currently in," Olive supplied. "The United States. Where are you from?"

And what kind of person didn't know the name of the country they had traveled to?

"No idea." And still with the helpful. "You're gonna see it in like a minute."

Or as soon as people got their asses up to go, already. God, teenagers.

...Of which April was technically still one for another eight months. Shut up.

"Looks like." Damn it, Fandom. "Or some shit they do for all the new teachers. I didn't ask."

Okay, wow, Olive was suddenly so grateful for a Californian upbringing. This girl's outfit was weird, but she was sort of used to weird. She'd been to the Pier a few times, okay?

"So...you're another new high schooler, too?" she asked, because hey, the girl was all quiet and new-looking and Olive was starting to be a little more friendly, out of sheer necessity.

"You're a teacher?" Olive asked, now full-on staring. She wasn't trying to be rude. But this chick was so not even like, out of college.

"No," April said in a monotone. "I just said I was to mess with you."

See how she was lying now, Olive? See it?
