It had been with several bone-crushing hugs, a lucky rabbit's foot, two trashy books and an iPod that Olive had boarded the plane. If she had to guess, geographically, she had started to really miss her parents and brothers somewhere over Texas. (Texas was huge. She was probably right.) She'd pushed that away and shoved in her earbuds in an attempt to sleep, to no avail.

And...now she was supposed to meet new classmates. Okay. She found the designated loungey area thing -- and holy crap, that glittery sign was like something Marianne would make (so...not a great omen) -- and took a seat. Tempted as she was to retreat into her book and iPod again, she instead only fiddled idly with her phone, looking up every couple minutes to see if anyone relatively her age had come over. She hated being the first one anywhere. Now there was like, this onus on her.

She had maybe just won her Words With Friends game with her mom, as soon as the plane had landed, with "onus." She was pretty proud of that.

"A high school does imply a certain age bracket will be predominant." She folded her hands neatly in her lap. "What is Disneyland? Another city? That has castles?"

"...sort of," Olive said, sort of baffling at this girl. Man, there were some weird kids here today. Who hadn't heard of Disneyland? They even had it in Europe. "It's a theme park. But it has a castle, yeah."

"Oooh, like Nautilus, the City of Dreams, then," Yeul said, pleased to encounter something that was like what she knew. "I wonder if Fandom will be anything like that? I doubt a school will have anything so grand as a place devoted to entertainment."

"Still," she added optimistically, "we cannot say for sure either way until we get there."

"I'm just hoping it's not like...crazy strict. I mean, I've never even seen a boarding school in real life," Olive admitted. "Just in movies."

"Neither have I," Yeul confided. "I've been homeschooled my whole life. I'm rather looking forward to this. Do you think they will have us wear uniforms? Or would that fall under too strict, do you think?"

"It depends on the uniform," Olive decided. "I mean, there's something to be said for the Britney look."

She'd kind of been and there done that, though.

"There's something to be said about every look," Yeul said fairly, then smiled. "Though it might not always be complimentary."

She had no idea what the Britney look was.
