Umbridge High School Building, Saturday Evening

There were some clouds hanging around the spires of Umbridge High School, but not enough; there was an overlaying sense that there shouldn't be as much sunlight shining down on it as there was.

It was quiet. Kind of. There was tension in the air, a wound-up strung-up thing that ensnared the school. Somehow it seemed as if even the birds didn't want to touch down on the building itself, and the gates seemed to fold into themselves, even if they weren't quite shut.

And all that on a weekend, too.

[[ wait for the ocd up! ]]

"Oooookay." So... not on his side, then. "Well," he said, clapping his hands once and nodding toward the area she seemed to be protecting, "I was headed that way, so now that we've got that settled, could I just...?"

Effy made a deliberately casual sidestep in the same direction. "What's the magic word?"

Oh. Well.

"...It isn't 'please,' is it?"

He really hoped it was 'please.'

Sorry, Frank. That little 'tsk' noise she made, probably meant 'no'.

"Ten points from--" Effy hesitated, a tiny frown wrinkling her brow as a stray thought that didn't quite align flickered in her mind. "Whatever the fuck your name is."

It didn't quite work, but no matter.

"Well, you see," Frank said, trying to bullshit rapidly here, "first of all, it's Frank, and nice to meet you. But secondly, I actually did know the password, but this morning I had to get my Imperio touched up and you know how it goes with the short-term memory loss. It's so inconvenient. But I promise I'm authorized." He held up three fingers, smiling charmingly. "Scout's honor."
